Damn, that Jeph is such an awesome writer. I love how he has no intention of doing full Ghost in the Shell where people actually replace their brains with hard drives. He wants to keep the AI's while allowing the humans to stay in their human stage and thus keeps them grounded and relatable and open for platform for the exploration of the human condition in an alternative AI filled reality.

And is quite admirable to see see his progression of art talent. Going from total shit artist to total shit anime adaption artist to somewhat decent and still experiment his style and pushing to improve himself with better techniques and allowing himself the courtesy to excuse himself if he makes errors and the positive risks pays off

That kind of thing really bothers me, not to say anything about anything at the moment because I agree with your initial statement and comment as being the real 'meat' and important aspect of this situation and idea, but:
I feel as though a lot of these comics come off as terrible, lazy, dumb, uninspired, not because they don't have "interesting worlds", but because the people and stories that take place within them don't really respect the context of the world around them and that, if anything, is probably what my actual issue is.

The author seems to being going off on a tangent or clumsy soap box about transgenderism, gender fluidity, etc.. When the bigger picture is the fact that a machine can even have these notions or concepts to begin with.
I feel like intelligent, free-willed, robotic people would have their own issues, problems, but to actively confine human-issues or human-mentalities is anything from lazy storytelling, to a genuinely cruel act.

Yes I agree completely. More often then not these e-comics fall into the trap of soap-boxing. Its rags for dogma to spit-up on more then anything else. The real crime comes in when these artists who do have interests in interesting concepts (robots, ai, future-tech etc) decide to use these as a sort of place-holder for real world building or actual substance. I didn't like Dragon Ball until I read the comic as opposed to watching the cartoon. Much stronger and paced so much faster.

But Toriyama is pretty notoriously lazy, the reason Goku's hair turns blonde when he transform is so Toriyama didn't have to color it in. And he was constantly introducing new characters over the course of the series that pushed the older characters out. He also just flat out forgot his own plot points. Someone at some appearance asked him why Gohan stopped using some power-up he got and Toriyama said he forgot about it and brought it back in Dragon Ball Super. A lot of his art is done in a cartoony fashion because it's less work to make a cartoony car than to make a realistic car look consistent from panel to panel. And these are all things he's said himself.

The guy is a real genius and has done some of his best work entirely off the cuff. He created Cell, one of the most iconic villains, out of nowhere because his friend and former editor didn't like the villains he had planned to use, and those villains were also created in a similar manner to replace the original villains who also didn't go over that well.

Jeph seems to try to do the same thing, but his results are sloppy. Also, Toriyama never stabbed himself in the hand because Bulma wasn't fat enough.

The difference is mainly that Toriyama worked hard and developed his art style before it devolved. If you just see the jump from Dr. Slump to Dragon Ball and early DB to late DB you can tell Toriyama tried to develop a lot. That's to say nothing of his other, older works.

He did all that while making deadlines. People forget that this shit was running weekly for like fifteen years with no breaks. He had to hire out assistants like a lot of other people but he was almost never late and even if he bitched about it in his comics sometimes he still made the deadlines like a professional.
