that's actually detail, not lines for the sake of it; the other possibility is vents (though they're a little low down for that); compare it to HQ photos of, for example, the tv Flash costume - you can see the sides are a different material entirely, which is to do with deformation (since it's heavy leather/pvc) and breathability (trust me, those tv costumes don't get deep cleaned all that often)

the gold lines coming down from the neck to the armpits are, similarly, a way of producing a shirt or jacket that will hang a certain way from the body - compare your tshirt (which is most likely a single central seam along the top of the shoulder) with, you know, fucking other people's shit, you hobo

Spider-Man's costume is flawless, I'm not saying it needs to have the red broken up.

Personally, I hated it at first but it grew on me. I always said webshooters should be under the suit so that enemies don't know he needs webshooters and don't use them as a target, but I liked all the designs of the mechanical shooters from TASM1, 2, and Civil War/Homecoming. I like the stripes on Cap's shoulders from his Avengers outfit and the wrist gauntlets from Superman's MoS and newer comic outfits too, so it's a personal taste thing I guess.

As far as raised webbing goes, I can do with or without it. I prefer it to be thin and not silver like the Raimi movies though, it looked shitty there.

Oh, fuck that guy to death. Fuck him hard. Not all of it's even bad; I actually really like a couple, and I like how often he integrates jackets and the like into the costumes. However, he exemplifies the flat, blanket aesthetic that's taken up so much of Marvel that I figured was just a shit school of thought, not one asshole redesigning everything. His goal seems to make everyone as flat, similar, and unlike anything identifiable as a character's classic design. It exemplifies Marvel's seeming constant journey to make all their characters not their characters at all anymore, all swapped out or unrecognizable, especially aesthetically.

Fresh new takes and new costume aesthetics can be awesome, but not when it's fucking everyone all the time.

I agree to an extent, only knowing so much/having read so much Moon Knight. I don't think it's truly awful, but I think the real problem is how lithe he is, how modern and tight the costume is. It gives me more a feeling of a real young guy or Spider-Man type, not someone as mature or brutal as MK. It's just kind of one of those "modern day comic costume" designs that all kind of mesh together, rather than standing out, which the white always did very well.

Like the other guy said, not a style thing at all, and I doubt it would ever come back under Disney now. However, it sounds fine for him. He has instant, constant regeneration; he's not going to have any ill effects, so if he likes it he might as well. Even if it's because nobody does anymore, make him stand out, make him an anachronism. He's been around for the better part of a century, real life or not, and we literally have highly praised works now about him getting old as fuck. Make him be a symbol of the old days, barely hanging on because he can't do anything else.

As to what you said, makes perfect sense in the movie, and I actually kind of like his design. He was a scavenger and space pirate more, being wacky and doing dance-offs at the time; made perfect sense. However, with them moving to semi-matching costumes in Vol. 2 and all considered, I've been holding out that they'll go full Guardians with the classic costumes for Infinity War or something. Be a perfect journey for them and we'd get to see the GOAT design.

You know, this exeplifies the problem with most of what's been posted in this thread, and 90% of the design fuckery going on in comics today. It seems like they just can't decide exactly what age and body type they want to portray 90% of the heroes with, so it's just constantly in flux and makes the designs feel really weird.
