thoughts on the animated Gen 13 movie from 2000?
also the full thing is on youtube

Seeing Fairchild's nipples was pretty neat.
>>94473726
you see titties ?
>>94473726
Based on the look of the animation, I was surprised at how 'adult' it was
>>94473870
Not that anon, but yep. Perhaps a kind anon will show a demonstration.
ah Fairchild does things to me
who's down for me to storytime some Gen13? any requests?
>>94474142
whatever you'd like to do anon. maybe Superman/Gen 13 crossover?
>>94472626
It's kinda weird they haven't tried to push Gen13 more. It'd be ideal foil in Teen Titans for example.
>>94474242
I did that a few days ago, its probably still in the archives
also did the Spider-Man crossover
in this thread or start a new one?
>>94474597
might as well use this one. and thanks Ill check the archive. you can do another gen13 story then
>>94474567
with Wildstorm being relaunched as its own universe we will probably see them there at some point. But I agree, they could have done more with them
Fantastic Four/ Gen13 storytime
let's have some fun with two of the best teams to ever grace comics

>Apparently it's not even on DVD?
No. The movie was produced and distributed by Touchstone ( Disney), Lee sold Wildstorm to DC after the movie was finished and Disney shelved it because it was a property owned by a rival company.
>>94475426

in another universe, Disney's Gen13 show was more popular than Teen Titans

One of the worst pieces of junk I've had the displeasure of seeing. I don't know anything about the comic, but if its anything like that animated film, then I'll stay clear of it.

I'm liking it thus far. I had read very little Wildstorm stuff prior so I was a bit confused at first but after looking into the 90s and 00s stuff, I "get" the characters and world a bit more. Overall I really like the pacing and art.

Weird synchronicity.
I just watched that yesterday for the first time.
I looked for the movie once about a year ago and couldn't find it anywhere.
Then yesterday I figured my favorite online archive probably has it.
Honestly some of the voice actors were really phoning it in, but Mark Hamill is god damn incredible.
I feel like this movie should have been a series that played on MTV.
I enjoyed it, reminded me of stuff like Gargoyles or Roswell Conspiracies.
>>94473726

>>94473726
What nips? you mean the ones that disappeared when she mutated?
then again, i was happy enough to see her barbie boobies
>>94472626
Pretty good as the set-up to a series, but since it never became one, it's like a porn without a money shot.
However, given that we've gotten season 5 of Samurai Jack, an animated version of The Killing Joke (albeit a very disappointing one), and the long awaited Hey Arnold! Jungle Movie, a Gen 13 series wouldn't be TOO much out of the question.
Also,I heard the comic ended with everyone dying. Is it still worth picking up?
>>94476757
Never. There's a scene with breasts, but they're nipple-less.
>>94475203
>>94475297
Those jaw lines. What the fuck!
>>94480668
That's Kevin Maguire for ya. Good facial expressions but weak jawlines.
>>94476828
Yeah, they should have went the Heavy Metal 2000 route. HM2K is terrible but some people still watch it because of the tits.
>>94473574
There are a few better resolution copies floating around on YT, but they're in German and Russian. No one has ever bothered to take the old DIVX encode's audio and match it with one of the better video releases
>>94473574
I was about to say, I watched this on Youtube while up late one night.
Interesting adaptation to say the least.
>>94472626
Having just seen, it was rather interesting. Teenage girls in very lewd situation, some mild course language and a bit of graphic violence. More comic properties need this treatment.
>>94479468
yes, they're fun while they last
>>94479468
It's really good. If you like 90s Image or cheesecake I would say start from the beginning while keeping in mind that it was J. Scott Campbell's first comic and the art gets better quickly after the first miniseries. If you don't like those things I would say just skip to the Adam Warren run, it's an all-around top tier superhero comic no matter what your tastes are. Now that you've seen the movie you've probably seen enough to get what's going on.And yeah, they die but they came back later
>>94476411
Thanks for the story time anon
>>94482819
no problem, more to come!
>>94484528

>>94475178

So old school fans of Wildstorm, what is your reaction to Ellis' new series? The character designs I saw looked like shit but does the writing do the classic material justice?

>>94487707
here are some of the redesigns. obviously very very different from the 90s EXTREME EVERYTHING look.
>>94487789
They lookcool.
>>94487850
Yeah I like them too. The minimalist, stripped back look works well for this new take on the Wildstorm universe and the less action-heavy approach to the story
>>94488016
I will miss the beefcake tho.
>>94484708
>>94488034
the general sense of lewdness and exaggeration will be missed

>>94476531
The weird part was that Burnout is missing, and Rainmaker is gone after a fight with Fairchild. Considering his connection with Lynch it was odd if they was meant to be a series.
>>94488407
Half the early Image girls had Psylocke outfits, she must have been a favorite of those boys.
>>94492299
nice
>>94482020
>If you don't like those things I would say just skip to the Adam Warren run
I'd say that's good advice in general. I've tried reading the pre-Warren stuff but gave up. Nothing about it was interesting or particularly amusing. It is what it is, a cheesecake book, and it's kind of dull because of it to me. Warren's got cheesecake stuff but his characters are charming as hell, especially his Roxy who's moe as fuck and I just want to protect her white trash ass.
I find it hilarious too that in Grunge: The Movie, Warren playfully mocks the idea of women being tied up by the villain as fetishy considering what led to Empowered a few years later.
>>94496080
Also I shouldn't be surprised that there's seemingly way less Roxy art than there is Caitlin.
>>94496462
That's because she smokes.
the Adam Warren ones were great, it was peak Warren right before he went overboard with the duck lips and frog faces
Adam Warren's run of Gen13 is top tier shit and "A Gen13 bootleg film Grunge!: The Movie" will forever hold a special place in my heart.
I remember not being all too impressed with the cartoon back in the day tho.
>>94497013
She's trying very hard to be a bad girl, okay?
>>94497921
I really need to read Magical Drama Queen Roxy but I'm too lazy to try and track down the individual issues online, Readcomic doesn't have it and I've had no luck in the back issue bins at my LCS. Grunge: The Movie is one of the funniest comics I've ever read though.
I'm surprised DC's never gone and collected the entire run. Or even done a series of Gen13 omnibuses.
>>94498049
I think the nostalgia for the series is pretty high. My comic store doesn't put Gen13 in the quarter bins anymore, they go in the dollar apiece box now. One of the few 90s Image series to attain that lofty honor
What are some good Gen13 stories I should read? I'm trying to track down the older collections.
>>94499721
everything but Arcudi and Claremont's
those guys fucking suck
>>94499721
Warren's stuff has already been mentioned but he also had a two issue arc (issues 43-44) about Caitlin vs. a sentient meme.
>>94500055
Arcudi and Frank's run was great. You had Ivana skanking it up every other issue.
>>94472626
>Fairchild getting huge

I didn't realize she was such an amazon.
>>94498049
We were supposed to get a trade this year. Didn't end up happening.
