Chris Claremont created Nathan Summers and Louise Simonson had the idea to age him up as Cable, coming up with the concept for Liefeld to draw designs for; Liefeld wanted to draw a mercenary with lots of guns, but he neither created Nathan Summers (who existed as an infant in 1986, years before Liefeld started working for Marvel at all) nor the backstory that has informed his appearances since (including the future he grew up in, fleshed out by Scott Lobdell in 1994's The Adventures of Cyclops and Phoenix miniseries)

Deadpool was Fabian Nicieza/Rob Liefeld - and is basically, in terms of appearance, a crib of Marv Wolfman and George Pérez' Deathstroke the Terminator

Simonson is on record as saying that at the end of her run on New Mutants she was pushed from the title by Bob Harras, then editor, because Rob Liefeld didn't like her, or her idea that Cable should have some kind of traits or backstory beyond being a shitty b-movie ripoff (though I've left the screenshot several dead harddrives back, there was a movie from I think '87 that featured the kind of retarded, strapped together guns Liefeld likes to draw)
