Im actually surprised how well Ive taken a liking to her. At first I was annoyed, dropping the Power Ring persona and thinking "Oh great, ANOTHER Green Lantern from Earth", but her anxiety works really well with the GL mantra. She's a rookie, shes terrified, but she still manages to overcome it.

It actually makes sense she can't be Power Ring anymore since she'd be in direct contact with Volthoom and that would stunt her growth. She was popular as Power Ring because she was flawed and had an evil presence giving her power. Now that she's a GL she can overcome her personal fears and that can create organic conflict.

What are some essential trades/hardcovers/omnis to read if I want to get into Green Lanterns? I've never read anything GL related but they seem cool
Not picky which characters, would be best to read as many as I can really.

Us Lantern fans have to navigate this clusterfuck. Other heroes don't have 7 coexisting renditions like Green Lantern.

How come nobody has addressed the fact that Green and Yellow ring are exactly the same in their activation requirements, or that Von Daggle's ring not working because he's a shapeshifter makes no sense since any sentient being can use any ring?

Half the rings don't even have prerequisites. Red and Orange find the embers of anger and greed inside you and amplify them, and when you join the Indigo or Violet Corps they just brainwash you. Really, it's just Yellow, Green, and Blue that are hardest to use

It's actual Lantern lore that the farther you get from Green in the spectrum (ROYGBIV), the less control you as a person have. Violet and Red control you pretty much.

Yellow, Green and Blue are the hardest to use specifically because of the reasons you listed.

The only recommendation is that you skip the Rebirth Justice League that she's in.
Other than that it's Forever Evil, John's Justice League after it while she's Power Ring, Darkseid War, just to see how she became a GL, then Green Lanterns.

Start with Green Lantern Rebirth.
Not the recent one, but the one from like, 2006 that starts Geoff Johns' run.
After that, read GL Corps Recharge, then start reading both GL and Corps until New 52.
After that, the numbering changes and a couple of new books are added to follow, but since most of them start at the same time, you just need to figure out the order.
