Any comic published less than 30 years ago can't be considered "old shit".

But anyway generally speaking you can try stuff by those writers around that time*. Johns did a couple of arcs for Booster Gold ongoing that launched after 52 (it was pretty fun) and I think there was a Black Adam mini or two (didn't read them though).

*I would said Waid is the exception here. I don't think his LoSH or his post-Infinite Crisis Flash are good. Go back to 90s stuff for his prime.

You should check the other stuff the writers involved in 52 wrote, some notable ones that came around the time 52 came up are, Gotham Central, Seven Soldiers of Victory, Blue Bettle Vol 3, JSA Vol. 3, and i can't think anything good Waid wrote around that time but check his Flash run.
