Yeah, this and the dolphin rape scene made it pretty clear it was supposed to be tongue and cheek. I still haven't read Crossed +100, and some of the stories are real stinkers, but overall I kind of liked Crossed. It was nice not to get a moral shoved down your throat as so often happens in stories like these.
