I think that might be the case, in 8 seasons the only reference to 2 in the AM PM, excluding character designs, was the scene in Benson Be Gone where Susan does a similar exit to the cop riding his head out of the living room. I think they didn't want to reference 2 in the AM PM more directly to avoid IS IT CANON?! spam.

Here, they won't reference Loliland but the 2nd short, since this is a different and 2nd show. If he is an actual character, that'd be fucking amazing.

The thing with RS was that I was surprised when they said "My God", here there's nothing to stop them, and it seems they're just being adult because they can, rather than it feeling natural.

Regular Show was regular because they took it in a relax direction when it came to dialogue. Close Enough is just close enough to that direction that I'm still giving it a chance, but they're seemingly wanting to lean into "dude benis" territory when they're short on ideas for jokes. Sometimes "a fucking...PENIS" can be funny, but that's entirely based on delivery, and out of every character we've seen, none of them have been showcased with strong delivery. From past knowledge, JG is a pro. He can say penis and anus all he wants, but the rest need to get past that new actor-tier stage.
