I think the reason why I love Revenge of the Sith more than the other movies is because I love stories of dictatorships coming into power. I would cum buckets if we got a novel about the early Imperial Senate and how Imperial society slowly turned into what you see in Inferno Squad where disagreeing with the Emperor ruins your life and gets you executed for treason. I would love something like a novel about Mon Mothma with Bail as a side character that shows how they opposed the Emperor in the Senate to the point that political opposition was futile and endangering their lives leading to Rebels Season 3 where they openly join the Rebellion.

I've got the R1 version and the original Y-wing from a million years ago (~2000? back when LEGO first got Star Wars). Most of my joy for collecting these things now is just comparing to the old models of my childhood; it's amazing how they're both nearly the same size but there's so many more details, and even the overall form is more accurate. It also has an interesting bomb magazine system, and the dumb spring shooters are hidden in the undercarriage. The one downside is the newer model requires a lot more stickers, which are the bane of my existence (I feel that stickers are antithetical to what LEGO is supposed to be).

The U is pretty sweet, it's got a good locking system to hold the wings in place in both configurations and well disguised spring shooters (you literally won't notice unless you're looking for them), but for the number of minifigs you get there isn't a lot of space to store them all, even though the model is so big. The big windowed section up front, while cool (it uses the cockpit glass from the original ultimate collector's X-wing), doesn't connect to the rest of the passenger compartment so it's just dead space (It also doesn't easily remove for access). I think I can finagle all four passengers into the passenger section, but you certainly can't close the door with all four of them in there.

The First Order, yes, they were actually. Neo-Imperials were the enemy faction from the earliest treatments. The only difference is that they were allegedly going to be held back for VIII, with Jedi Killer's space pirates who were on the FO's payroll being the villains for VII. The way things were set up seem suspiciously close to Bloodline and how the Amaxine Warriors were used there.

The Resistance seems to be something that only emerged after Arndt left the production. The old concept art makes references to Sam being a pilot in the New Republic navy.

Just as an additional fun fact - the Jedi being purged again and Luke being a kooky weirdo in the exile go all the way back to Lucas' treatment too. The overall set-up for the trilogy wasn't going to be so different.

Hello. Today I got some new information regarding the vehicles of the Han Solo movie.
We'll see two vehicles from the prequels:Clone Turbo Tank and Arc-170 Fighter.
There will be a new Imperial transport ship which reminds me of Tron:Legacy Recognizer ship.

I agree with the sentiment anon. Not only is SMG an excellent voice actor, but her character had a pretty good design and the potential to be more than just a Team Rocket-esque villain that gets killed off after 5 episodes.

I would have loved for SS to be a recurring villain that has the Ventress/Kenobi dynamic with either Kanan or Ezra. Also, SMG is cute! CUTE!

I wonder how she ended up writing Star Wars books. It's one of my many questions about the behind the scenes stuff in the media industry. Going from writing dumb Twilight, vampire love interest wish fulfillment shit to Star Wars books about politics and corruption and personal responsibility.

Well let's not be too quick to judge. Lost Stars was pretty good, after all.

Her stories, perhaps unsurprisingly, seem focus on the romance angle. At least in how they're marketed and summarized online. The political conflict and themes in Lost Stars, beyond the romance itself, do make me curious what would be in these stories about highschool vampires, small town witches, dimension hopping, and now I guess robot sexing. Or if that's just something she brought out for the Star Wars stories specifically. She also seems to have a type when it comes to these summaries of the male love interests for the heroines. Pretty cliche tortured hero shit. I'm further gonna guess, what with the vampire/vampire hunter, girl chasing down the guy she thinks killed her dad/guy she thinks killed her dad, future teen soldier fighting robots/robot, couples I'm seeing here, star crossed lovers is a big thing too. Though, interestingly, it's Ciena not Thane who ends up being the most tortured in Lost Stars. Thane still has the daddy issues angle, I guess.

I can barely fucking believe Star Wars EU might be my gateway into reading modern female teen fantastical romance fiction. I'm a fucking 26 year old man.

Luke, seeing the cycle of the Sith and Jedi is never ending, burns his school to the ground. That's pretty dark. The Knights of Ren forming in the wake of that, as the jaded student of Luke making the best of what they can even moreso.

Filoni had a habit of bringing in villains, and the prematurely killing them.

He has admitted that Aresko, Grint, Tua and Grinky were ALL killed earlier than he initially intended, because of unexpected story developments and ideas.

I believe /ss/ is another example of this, especially because of the interview with SMG in which she said she was upset and shocked when Filoni came to her and said they decided to kill her off so soon after she joined the show.

But to be fair, you can't just go up against Maul and expect to live. The Inkies were following Ezra and Kanan, who ended up bumping into Maul who was already on the run. It just simply couldn't end well for the Inkies that day.

You can tell already, from what we know and can safely assume, that he's not going to be the clear cut golden boy most people want and expect him to be. And I like that. Furious zealot Luke is far more interesting than Perfect fluffy mentor father figure Luke.

So I wouldn't mind if he's spun more in the villainious way. The problem with the /tv/ fanfiction in that thread is that I can't imagine Luke puppeteering Snoke and the First Order. I can clearly see him adopting a Scorched Earth mentality when it comes to the Force, just tearing everything down, but I don't believe he'd push for the First Order to decimate the New Republic. As far as we know, Luke has been completely removed from the political scene ever since Endor. While you could successfully argue for Luke going more extremist when it comes to his faith, there's nothing indicating that he'd change his political opinion so fundamentally. There's nothing in it for him to break that system down.

Unless his plan is to use the FO as a battering ram to tear everything apart, then dismantle it and leave the galaxy as a complete decentralised Wild West. Which does sound kind of neat.

Mark pulled it off incredibly well. Just look at Luke's expressions throughout the trilogy and you see how he's grown. Wide eyed adventurer in IV, alert and skittish in V, wisened and mature in VI. VII and VIII seems to have him as broken and disillusioned. Probably not what people wanted but it's a relatively logical progression.

He was involved in the story far more, accompanying the protagonists on the Jedi treasure hunt, that is true. Arndt had problems with him stealing the screen time from the new heroes, which in part contributed to JJ and Kasdan eventually writing Luke completely out of the movie, to put the spotlight on Rey and Finn.

However, he wasn't playing the Obi-Wan respected mentor role either. From the very little what we can piece together, he was going to be quite unbalanced, with his powers going out of control, both externally and internally, taking a toll on his psyche and leaving him burdened with doubt and fear. I've always liked Darth Nihilus. His mask is cool, and I like that his driving force is a need to consume to survive more than it is a lust for power. The fact that he never actually spoke added to his mystique, and that his ship was a shipwreck being held together by the dark side like a sci-fi ghostship was, again, really cool.
Also the fact that his 'apprentice' if you could call it that was Visas Marr also somehow adds to that since I like her and I think I might have a thing for blind girls

Also, he's a pretty strong unit in Galaxy of Heroes. Cleanses enemy buffs, forces cooldowns, instakills, lifesteal. It's pretty good.

Kreia was always my favorite for how tragic she was. She tried to kill the Force forgetting she was being used by it. She understood much of the Force but in many ways understood little. Especially looking at her character from a canon standpoint.

Sion is especially tragic as well. People think of him as an edgelord but he's a prisoner trapped into his own personal hell. The fact that he falls in love with The Exile and tries to in a weird way protect her from Kreia should be telling.

In retrospect they really should have clarified that the EU was never really meant to be canon, but rather contribute towards the production of canon material. Lucas always said that he considered EU stuff as just stories people could tell while he was in the middle of or wasn't making movies.
