To be perfectly fair, the comic did establish forever ago that Paulo was a nice shy kid who only became a shameless manwhore out of a desire to be cool. He's also been shown plenty of times to still have moments of intense insecurity. The issue is that the writing is shit so it's more or less impossible to nail down exactly "who" Paulo is supposed to be. I guess these chicken scratches--I mean, comics, are supposed to undo all that somehow.

After it went chibi at the end of the watercolor saga that was closely followed by characters dumbed down, I lost all sympathy.

Ultra late introduction of Madison and Matt which both seems Mary Sue ish and oooofcourse is gay really doesn't help her case either.

And let's not forget last chapter, because when I thought it couldn't get any worse it somehow did, and todays page would've bothered me something fierce if said chapter didn't finally kill all hope I had of the comic becoming redeemable again.

One thing I liked about Paulo is that he wasn't the kind of character I'd expect to see in a comic by a nerd or weeb; he's not a nerd himself and didn't have nerdy problems like being helplessly awkward with the opposite sex.

Him being re-oriented to never have had any real confidence really takes a few steps back from that. That is very much a stereotypical nerd problem.
