The thing about the Chinese box office is that even though there's a lot of money to be made, it's not much as you think (because they keep a lot more of the profits than other countries) and they keep changing the rules and making Hollywood jump through more and more ridiculous hoops to market their movie. It's probably already close to the point where it's not worth it.

While it's possible that they would have sought a July release date in China, it's more likely that the July date was picked globally to avoid conflicting with other big movies, as is the norm.
What's also normal is not knowing your Chinese release date until a few weeks ahead. November? Try August.
