Have you ever watched all the seasons of Johnny B?

He was a "act first, think much, much later" type of idiot from the get go.
Although later episodes did crank up his moron knob, he also gained fleeting moments of intellectual contemplation.

Not so much this as the second and third season's studios ramped up the slapstick element. Johnny's intellect is circumstantial from start to end.

Pretty much every character on that show (except for Squidward who never showed any liking of SpongeBob ever again, and Plankton who became the show's everyman for whatever reason). Either way, everything about the show was flipped upside down by the end of Season 5.
