Heading out so I'll give a quick review real quick before it finishes: the art is janky ass but other than being kinda corny the story isn't that bad. Glad to know how Blue Marvel is supposed to fit into the universe, I was wondering who he was after reading Ultimates^2.

>It's okay for Thor or Sentry, but a person of color-
Stark, I don't think anyone has ever been happy with Sentry having the level of power he does. Ever. All these stuff I've read about Sentry is everyone was fucking terrified of that guy and he was a hero and on teams because they wanted to keep an eye on him.
Thor is an God/Alien. People are going to be okay with him having that power the same way they're going to be okay with Beta Ray Bill having that power. It's got nothing to do with race, and more to do with the fact they're not human (and thor has a long reputation in mythology of being one of the good guys).
And to be fair, I'm pretty sure these days some people would be terrified of a black person having that kind of power for the exact same reason people would have been terrified in the 60's. What if he snaps and decides to genocide non-blacks? Not much you can do to stop it, and it's not like parts of the black community wouldn't want it to happen too.
And that's the origin of Blue Marvel.

Why are you talking to the character like they can hear you?
>>94337978
That was pretty shitty. He's basically another Sentry but with a tragic victim of racism past attached.
I can't help but think it would be a more powerful point if they didn't make Blue Marvel the biggerest and bestastest hero from teh way back when. Instead of being smarter or faster or more guileful, he's just another super punch man with Kirby energy.
I miss Anti-Man.

/co/ read Civil War II so I don't believe that.

Thanks for sharing this, OP. I've been following Ewing's use of the character quite a bit over the last few years, and he obviously references this mini quite a bit, but I never did get around to reading it. It's pretty solid stuff overall. I genuinely enjoy the nuanced approach that it takes to the realpolitic of the 1950s and 60s here much more than I thought I would.
