Star doesn't match minki momo much.
It's more of a magical girlfriend show (think Wingman, Yurusei Yatsura, Video Girl ai) as she's a special girl living with a "normal guy" and defeaing evil from her world from his room.
Star ain't magical girl. Her identity is not hidden and she doesn't transform as part of every episode routine. She's also not on a mission, even though the first half of the first season implied otherwise

My main complaint with the Anne cartoon is that while it does have the characters from the book, out of 26 episodes, roughly half of one episode is based off events of the original novel, and the rest is stuff they made up themselves just to teach a different children's lesson per episode.
