To be honest I think that's a generous interpretation - the gut feeling that I got is that someone drew a sketch of the heart with that specific excited face, and they loved it so much they didn't want to let it go, didn't want to animate the heart in a different style.

Like I don't know, maybe it's what made the whole idea come together during some beer-fueled early brainstorming session, like "what if the heart would, just, like, pop out and become a character of its own".
