Back in 2015 Nick pulled the remainder of unaired Harvey Beaks episodes from their regular time slot.

Greenblatt wrote a defense of the show, saying that it wasn't just happening to Harvey Beaks, and that Nick wasn't premiering any new episodes that summer. He also wrote that the new episodes would be out eventually.

Then in 2016, Nick pulled similar shit, only instead of just delaying the show, they moved it to Nicktoons.

Apparently, (this is where my knowledge is fuzzy), this was a move to kill the show off. Problem is that Nick didn't tell Greenblatt, and he only learned that that was the case when Nick posted about it on their twitter.

Greenblatt then came forward and said that his defense of Nick in 2015 was forced out of him by the execs.

Man I am glad it died when it did. It was already getting pretty stale and unfunny by the end of its life like that movie with pirate captain boogeyman or Underfist. Neither of those were particularly funny. It ran its course well and it died just as it stopped being beautiful which was good.

I like how this show was less about Billy and Mandy's contract with grim, and more about just a couple of kids and the literal embodiment of death doing crazy shit... was this the rick and morty for us youngins back in the day? It seemed like literally ANYTHING could happen in this show, from a mundane slice of life at school with small horror elements to it, to a man eating balloon clown. And i'm not talking Rick and Morty with sjw infusions either. I'm talking pure, unadulterated zany comedy, yakno? It's a comfy fucking show, it had a reasonable run, and was never ruined by modernization. it only seemed to get better with age, even when the movies dropped. I am never disappointed to see any episode of billy and mandy because they are all bangers.

Billy and Mandy, even when attached to Evil con Carne in "Grim and Evil" would have been great, and a runaway hit, except for one prominent feature:
Billy.
He was just a little TOO obnoxious and annoying to be tolerable. Even the voice, clearly being done by an adult trying to sound as stupid and shouty as possible.

Having a somewhat obnoxious or "annoying" character to take the piss out of horror and dark elements is all in good fun, but there are limits. Like, it was really hard to find Billy endearing instead of outright aggravating, and when your overarching show themes are supposed to be references and jokes regarding mythical, occult, and supernatural things, your target audience loses interest when everything is constantly deflated by some retarded kid who always seems to grind plot/character progression to a halt because of retard shenanigans and toilet humor.

It's like they wanted the pre-teen, sci-fi/fantasy fan audience, but also 7-10 year old normalfag kids. I always felt like the show had lots of great production and passion put into it, but was forever at odds with itself, and just seemed somewhat awkward unless it could really settle itself into a niche, which it never did.

I think it was the same 2 eps of Billy & Mandy, followed by the same commercial breaks, then Camp Lazlo then another couple of shows then back to the same eps of Billy & MAndy.

the did it for a while, I'd say almost 2 years before they decided to just reworked the channel and remove Adult Swim altogether.

AS was transmitted in a separate Latam channel called I-Sat but even they stopped airing it a year later. So now we don't have Adult Swim at all.

I have no idea f their recorded the shit on vhs to play on loop or something but I swear it got to a point where the colors looked washed out and distoned whenever it aired.

Even Rick and Morty feels limited compared to Billy Mandy.
Billy and Mandy has that horror element that makes it so anything truly surprising can happen without the audience questioning it much.

In R&M they'd usually have Rick to explain what's going on through some techno-babble.
In B&M they just show it and that's all it takes to accept it.

It kinda reminds me of Evil Dead more than anything. The way the spirits just keep fucking with Ash in ways that would be tormenting to him, yet kinda oddly funny to the audience, because of the ridiculous situations they're in.
