I think Shiro/Matt seems most plausible with the information we currently have, especially because I personally suspect that Shiro is going to be a someone less central character from here on out, and I'd expect any romance in the show to be kind of off to the side.

My current theory is that Shiro is either going to become a bit more of a background character, or get his own B-plot that's a more separate from the Paladins (Matt's rebellion seems like the obvious pick), because he's the mentor figure, and narratively you pretty much never have the mentor figure always be around and readily available to the protagonists; it makes things a lot less interesting, solves conflicts too easily, etc.

I think that they'd want to hedge their bets and have the gay character be a sort-of main character, but not TOO main.
