why was this movie so different from the show?

Don't most movies deviate a lot from the source material if it's based on a show

Honestly, this movie leaves a lukewarm taste in my mouth. It's not that it's bad, but I can never shake off how it was different from the show for no reason.

Cause its a fucking movie.

It doubled as a Holiday/Christmas release, as you can tell by the winter setting and magical macguffin, and those usually recast the characters in a Dickensian context anyway.

More importantly, the show was an anthology, while the movie was obligated to have a plot where ALL of the Animaniacs were caught up.

I guess because it's a movie while the show had all these different sketches and stories in one episode. Pinky and the Brain was better anyway.

It's funny, the characters are faithfu,l and that's all that matters.
