Is there any superpower more useful in real life than shapeshifting?
>>
Mind control
Reality Warping
Super Intelligence
Ability to see the future
Time Travel

List goes on really, and honestly if you milk the super intelligence you could easily find a way to get all these powers.
>>
Shapeshifting is only good when they can turn into anything, like Durlans. And even then something like speed force is probably better.
>>
>>94196265
Is there any way to have super intelligence and not become a slave to the goverment?

You don't have super intelligence if you can't think of how

>>94196383
Not necessarily. It might take you an immense amount of physical effort to move stuff with your mind

I don't know why bother with super intelligence when shapeshifting allows you to replace any politican or celebrity. Not to mention slowed down aging
>>
>>94196613
Why replace them when you can just be one?
>>
>>94196649
Why to be one if you can be many?

Actually if you're just super intelligent enough to make it seem like you're realistically but very intelligent.

There's the beauty. Eventually you either die or shapeshift into something that can get out of the rock.
If you're immortal and eternally immobile it's just kind of shit.
Also you eventually lose everyone you love, or if you don't love anyone live perpetuity alone.

>>
>>94201222
If you're going to go that way then at least make some argument about how you'll end up alone at the end of the universe and become the new Galactus or something. Getting stuck under a rock isn't exactly bad compared to witnessing the eventual heat death of the universe.

The losing everyone you love argument I've never understood. 90% of people already lose almost everyone they love. Every loving marriage ends with one person losing the other. Every group of close friends experience the loss of one of the group. Every child grows up to lose their parents. Plenty of parents end up losing their child. The only way you can get out of any of that is to make sure you're the first to die, which is selfish. The difference with immortality is that instead of losing your beloved wife at 90 and then just waiting to die because there's nothing else you can do in life you can turn your energy to other pursuits until you've moved on and eventually find love again, and again and again. The love doesn't lose its power because it won't last forever, that loss only sweetens the love. Unless you're prone to very pessimistic viewpoints and giving up.

Or you could just find another immortal you love.
>>

>Beauty/Attractiveness > charisma > Intelligence
This is a fact of life.

High intelligence can get you far, but high charisma can get you even further and nothing beats attractiveness. Being an extremely attractive individual will get you almost anything in life even if you are not very bright.
>>
>>94201605
Yeah. What are you, some mindless goon working as a bouncer? If you can read people's minds you can do anything you want in the world. Become the best policeman in the world, become a politician, become a spy, become a lawyer, become a judge, become a thief, conman, or the most famous magician in the world. All while not having to reveal that you actually have any powers at all if you don't want to. The world is your goddamn oyster, with people's minds being the pearl.

Meanwhile punching people with your mind is just punching people without having to swing your arm. How the hell is that going to get you anywhere in life except as a showman? Just get a fucking gun if you want to mess people up from afar.
>>
>>94201577
I don't want to read peoples thoughts, I'm depressed enough. Can you imagine having to hear everyones petty shitty thoughts? I would honestly give up hope in humanity entirely.

I would add pyrokinesis to it. That was i can heat up my food or cool my drink by thinking.

>>
>>94201842
Do you just not read comics, or what? Telepaths always beat telekinetics, because they can just fuck with the telekinetic guy's brain. Telekinesis is nothing but a showier action-version of telepathy, with telepathy going directly to what matters. Control the mind and you control the body.
>>
>>94202212
>Telepathyfags
>only useful against humans
>can't fight animals due to not knowing how animal brains work
>can't fight robots because non-organic
>think that reading minds is comparable to being able to manipulate objects with their mind
Ohhh wow you can see what a persons favorite color is, what a great power.
Meanwhile telekinesis in the real world would be absurdly overpowered. Create a blood clot in someone's brain to subtly kill them. Propel yourself forward for super speed. Don't have to worry about strength because you can just lift that shit with your mind. Manipulate the air away from someone's head to suffocate them.
>B-b-b-b-b-but I can read their mind and react to their attacks!
Good luck dodging a gun shot retard. I'll just stop the bullet with my mind. God telepathyfags are pathetic.

Literally all you can do with telekinesis is fight and kill, two things that aren't actually that useful in real life unless you life in a third-world shithole. AND you can do that with telepathy as well, but you've got a thousand more options.
>>
>>94202334

>>94202533
Telepathy won't protect you from any of that either. All telepathy lets you do is read minds, good luck stopping a brain clot with that when you can't even move because you're being held in place with telekinesis.
>>
>>94202533
>Telekinesis will not protect you from radiation, diseases, poisoning
All are particles you can control. Hell with telekinesis you could block out sunlight and any lightsource (or just blind the target by destroying their eyeballs. And if they try to use telepathy on you you just crush their head. In a straight up battle its all who gets the first strike and part of it would be range.

But screw fighting. Telekinesis allows you to fly, go into space or underground. That alpne makes it a cool power to have cause i would go walking on the moon
>>
>>94202633
Oh wow you can cheat in sports. That truly is better than become the president using telepathy.

That would be an interesting combination for a mastermind villain. You finally get your way to the manipulator at the center of the conspiracy, put a round through his chest thinking it's over when the bullet slowly drops out of his sealing chest. "What... you didn't know about my other power?"
>>
>>94203354
That's basically JJBA's Dio tho.
>>
>>94202678
That sounds more like matter manipulation to me. Telekinesis is generaly interpreted as the ability to control solid bodies (like objects, humans e.t.c) rather than their every particle

>>94196282
You do not want reality warping or anything to do with time. Either you fuck up the timestream, go crazy trying to avoid/change events or go mad with power as you fiddle with reality.
>>
>>94203796
Such as shapeshifting in Mystique's case
>>
>>94201577

At the upper limits of telekinesis, you're basically warping reality itself.

At the upper limits of telepathy you can turn the entire human race into one massive hive mind, which could potentially allow for some crazy shit by pooling the sum total of all human knowledge and directing it towards optimizing civilization and scientific development.
>>
>>94196341
It would kill you instantly. Stop time, momentum is conserved, you instantly hurtle into something at 30 kilometers per second.
>>
>>94201667
>High intelligence can get you far, but high charisma can get you even further and nothing beats attractiveness.

Werner von Braun is a good example. Went to a school for special needs parents, got a liberal arts degree because he could sweet-talk his NSDAP contacts and ultimately became the father of the American space program.
>>
>>94196383
Wrong. If you get stuck with "TK, can move a 1 kg object at 1 m/s" then that would be very useful, but no amount of knowedge is going to increase the limit. Just because you can imagine running 100 Km/hr doesn't mean your body can suddenly do it.
>>
>>94203857

Generally speaking, superpowers have sub-powers that make shit like that irrelevant. Like how most people with invisibility in comics don't have to keep their eyes visible to still see things, Quicksilver doesn't fuck himself up from friction despite not having the benefit of a "Speed Force", etcetera.
>>
>>94203824
That's not true of all shapeshifters. She gets that because of Popularity Power, same way Wolverine does. We should be more specific and say "I want Wolverine Healing" or "I want Mystique Shapeshifting."
>>
I don't get telekinesiscucks. Telekinesis is not useful at all in real life. It's only good for killing (or cheating at sport). Maybe they were often bullied in school.
>>
>>94203972
That's because you have no imagination. TK has a myriad of applications. Even a low power TK, say a few kilos, lets you open doors, retrieve items from hard to get at spots, work on things in similarly hard to get to spots, remotely move objects like cameras and a hundred other uses.

I shouldn't be surprised you have no imagination, though, given you can't even type one sentence without shitting out the word "cuck".
>>
>>94202633
Am I the only one who has watched Chronicle? Use telekinesis to fly nigga.
>>
>>94204285
>>94204181
Exactly. Anybody who thinks telekinesis is useless in real life is an imaginationless fuck.
>>
>>94204285
Doesn't work for all telekinetics. TK can vary from low power (The Long Arm Of Gil Hamilton) to apocalyptic (Phoenix).
>>
>>94204405
>Wow i can kill and steal in very creative ways!
The usage of telekinesis is limited to violence (and flying). Everything that could be achieved by telekinesis can be achieved by telepathy without hurting anyone
>>
>>94204478
I don't think the telepathyfags in this thread understand what telepathy is.
Telepathy is reading minds and, AT MOST, sending messages into others brains.
It is not mind control, hypnosis, or any of that shit. It's a parlor trick at it's worst and an information gathering tool at it's best.

I feel like it depends on the limits of the telekinesis. I think there are a few examples who have to train to build up how much force they can put out, and some with upper limits on force.

>>94204586
To be honest, that depends on how telepathy would work. Do you just get to glean any thoughts they deliberately and consciously think, or do you have an instantaneous understanding of their mental circuitry and current state? If it's anything like the latter, you could read the minds of any sentient being, not just people who speak English.

That's why I'll go with multiplying powers.
>wake up, make dupes go do many jobs
>stay in bed
>????

>>
>>94207948
Your dupes might end up being as lazy as you. You can't force them, because there'll be more of you than them.
>>
>>94208256
You mean "more of them than you," and anyway Jamie does have a limited form of control over his dupes in that they desire to do whatever he creates them for. The longer they remain in existence however, the more likely it is they begin to develop minds of their own. But still, that takes years. He had dupes taking whole courses to learn Russian and other languages, learn martial arts, criminology, lockpicking etc and reabsorbed them without any problems.
>>
>>94208256
I'm only lazy at home. At work I work my ass off. If that's the case, I'll drop by the job place and zapp one out and tell him to make my money.

Luck powers are the best powers for everyday life.

So convenient. Goddamn, actual humans suck.

It gets better, slowly. Very slowly.

It's funny because you actually believe this.

the only thing he got wrong is thinking attractiveness beats charisma

Strong healing factors, especially if you're incredibly compatible as a donor.
Helping out as the human race is more important than personal gain or government work.

Intelligence != morals.
>>
>>94208764

No, the only thing he got wrong was assuming everyone has the same priorities, metrics for success, drive, and a whole host of other factors. Do you have any idea how many incredibly pretty and charismatic failed actors there are?

Also, somehow separating intelligence and the ability to know how to apply your charisma is a sure sign of someone who possesses neither.

Shapeshifting never makes sense, why do clothes change just because your appearance changes?
>>
>>94208993

Mystique is, rather explicitly, almost always naked.
>>
>>94209139

I just assumed she was one of those chicks that never wanted to wear clothes. I knew quite a few women like that.
>>
>>94208993

Typically if a shapeshifter's clothes are shown to change with them, it's because they're actually naked but can shift their appearance to look like they're wearing clothes.

>>94199936
>Shape shift into bird
Well there goes your point, and if you want to go a step further, shape shift into a fucking dragon.
>>
>>94210559
Can you shapeshift into anything like Plastic Man or is it limited to biological things?

>The losing everyone you love argument I've never understood.

People (mostly religious ones) take a sort of comfort that when their time comes, they'll be able to reunite with those that have passed on before them. As an immortal, you don't get to have that, and unless your immortality comes with a built in emotional off switch, you'll put yourself in the vicious cycle of meeting people, getting attached to them, then mourning their loss over and over and over and over again because human beings are a social creature by nature.
>>
>>94211066
That's not really a vicious cycle when plenty of non immortals irl learn to accept loss with minimal emotional suffering. Look at all the cultures that throw a party when someone dies to celebrate their life and swap stories of time together.
Hell, what about the cultures that believe the dead only get to stay in the good part of the afterlife so long as people remember them
>>
>>94211204
Those guys don't get eons of "celebrating their life and swap stories of time together" to go through though.
>>

you gotta learn how to manage your time better

Mystique can't alter her mass so if she changes into small things they're very, very dense or if she changes into big things they're very, very flimsy
>>
>>94210839
Anything that is a shape. You can't take the form of thoughts or ideas though. As long as a heroes superpowers come from a source that is physical, e.g. Spider-Man and the DNA altering bite, you get those powers if you shift into them. If they are not from a material source, Ghost Rider for instance, you are shit out of luck.

>>94211418
It is a good thing I never said I was using Mystique as a template in what I said, isn't it?

If I could selectively control tangibility, then Astral Projecting would be a fun power to fuck with people (and fuck sexy people).

>>94196282
Honestly first answer gets it right, right off the bad, If you're smart enough there should be no reason you couldn't just science your way into getting more powers.

>>
>>94196245
In this day and age? Technomancy. Interfacing directly with machines / software is ridiculous. Something like Hana Gitelman's powers would be seriously OP.

>>94201142
It's nobody's fault but your own if you're too stupid to use your powers right, chief.

If I meant 'being God' I'd have said "being God" you moody faggot...

What I suggested is objectively less insurmountable than outright omnipotence/omniscience because the user's capabilities require the opportunity to improve the skills and attributes in question, before any enhancement can occur...
