IF was a step up. Not the best by any means, but more interesting to watch and follow the story. This seems like it's legitimately an issue, these reviewers and such are going in thinking that there's gonna be some big, biting commentary on racism or abusers or something, just because JJ and LC focused on that in their own, standalone series (and likely will continue to focus on in their second seasons), neither of which really built up to this anyway. They knew they couldn't make him Tibetan without losing the Chinese market, but they couldn't make him Chinese without alienating anyone who cares about Tibet. First review for Defenders I read and it's complaining that Iron Fist wasn't Asian and that his show had no SJW brownie points (Jessica Jones is an assault victim, Like Cage is black) and that, because it's a team up miniseries, The Defenders suffers. Basically they're complaining that it's not focusing on Carl's race and Jessica's womanhood and that Iron Fist is taking plot time which bothers them because he's white.
