Dr Manhattan wins in a physical brawl but that's lame. Superman's gonna spout trite platitudes about hope and morality and fighting in the face of absolute defeat and then Doc will go "OK Supaman, I leave da universe alone now"

Superman HAS to win. That's how his character is written. No matter the odds, he always wins.

Doctor Manhattan's previous story already had him losing as he felt dissatisfied with the end result and left.

Given the context, I think it's a very interesting idea to make a story out of the effect Watchmen had over the medium.

It really doesn't matter who wins, as long as it's well written. Or at least entertaining.
