Captain Everyone Else' Concepts is just going to remain 3rd rate

No he wouldn't and I'll tell you why, there are far to many characters that are derivatives of Captain Marvel for him to become as popular as you'd like him to be.

He has the John Carter of Mars problem, where he was amazing and cool for his time but now that almost everything borrows from his mythos it's boring and plain to the modern reader.

Mostly Superman for one thing, who has borrowed from both Captain Marvel and John Carter, and other now popular characters like Ben 10, Flash, and Thor, one is a kid that transforms into a super hero and the other uses a lightning bolt to transform into the god of thunder while Flash makes a big deal all the time about his lightning and has the same symbol on his chest.

Not only that but Wonder Woman uses the same pantheon of gods for her powers and they have absolutely no relationship to speak of whatsoever, at the very least they should be running in the same circles.

Captain Marvel can work there's no doubt about it but he needs to be tweaked unfortunately so he can stand out from his copy cats.

Maybe have him become good friends with Johnathan Kent and Damian, maybe have him get trained by Wonder Woman and invited to the island as a special guest.

Build out the Marvel Family little by little until he can stand on his own again, etc.

The only worry about Larson is that she's a little bit tiny at 5 1/2 feet. Carol's powerset involves a lot of punching and tiny people just looking ridiculous trying that when their opponents are larger. Still say they should have gone with someone a few inches taller minimum, like Jessica Biel, or Aly Michalka.
