She was never evil. Her trying to kill Jack was based on her being told he was evil and Aku was good. Once this is corrected, she is immediately just a normal "good guy" without even a hint of any evil tendencies remaining.

If there WAS actually some conflict about her having to fight against her inherent evil nature, she would've been more interesting.

Like if she was a redeemed villain who was willfully evil beforehand and made a sacrifice to make up for her past deeds that feels like a complete arc.
Ashi though from the day of her birth only ever did what she truly believed(to no fault of her own) was pure and good, and when she was shown proof to the contrary, she embraced the new lifestyle in the hopes that she can just live a happy life with the handsome and noble samurai.
In the end, it doesn't even appear to be a conscious sacrifice on her part, just cruel cosmic punishment as reward for saving the world from aku.

I watched this whole show with my roommate. Avoided all of the threads on /co/ because all of your negative bullshit after the 4th episode was bringing me down, and I didn't want to be negative when he was so hype.

But holy shit, that last minute asspull. It wasn't even an illogical thing to happen, it was just that they went "Oh shit, that's right.", and then a 15 year conflict was resolved half a second later. There was more time spent after Aku was dead on the wedding montage than on Aku's defeat.

Here's my version
Episode 1: Pretty much the same only without the Daughters of Aku scenes

Episode 2: Jack decides to let the newest beetle drone design kill him, but he is saved at the last moment by an Amazonian redhead (Any fan of the original knows that she's The Scotsman's Daughter) Jack tells her that he wanted to die, but Flora tries to snap him out of it, she tells him that in order to prove herself as a warrior she needs to complete a great task with a stranger ("and you're as strange as they come") so Jack begrudgingly joins her. They go to some ancient ruins, destroys some robots and complete the quest

Episode 3: Jack and Flora then go back to her home where they meet all the people Jack has helped/met (The Archaeologist Dogs, The Woolies, the Archer trio, even the Viking general from the same ep and the alien trio who called him Jack in the first ep) Jack slowly realises that it has not been in vain, meanwhile Scaramouche's head tries to get to Aku, it ends with Flora and Jack reaching Her clan's castle Jack replies "I know this place" they go inside the castle and you hear a boisterous sounding "LONG TIME NO SEE JACK!" WHACHA

Episode 4 to 9: The Scotsman tells Flora to join Jack on his quest to find his sword, they fight some bounty hunters, get eaten by an enormous creature, Jack deals with his inner demons and find his sword

Episode 10: Jack and all his allies make a final stand against Aku and he is defeated, then it can either go three ways

If Jack and Flora become a couple: Jack decides to stay in the future and takes over the Scotsman's clan (he died and became a ghost in the battle) greatly implying that he would turn into the king that The Guardian saw at the end of his episode, the final scene is Scaramouche's head finally reaching where Aku used to live only to find nothing there

If Jack and Flora don't become a couple: Jack finds a way to get back to the past and defeats past Aku, he is then crowned emperor by his father in front of a crowd of his teachers (and a Scotsman that looks somewhat like his friend from the future)

If Jack and Flora don't become a couple bittersweet version: Jack finds a way to get back to the past and defeats past Aku, then rapidly ages like the Viking lava golem guy but dies happily

I think Ashi objectively decreased the quality of the season but at the same time I enjoyed MOST of it all, excluding the ending as it really felt contradictory to everything and I felt the approach taken was more convoluted than it needed to be. Either Ashi dying a hero without the time travel bullshit or Jack fulfilling the guardian prophecy would have been great endings imho. At the very least I hope it helped bring non comedic adult cartoons to the public eye. That said the porn has been fucking amazing.Especially this one giantess vore fic that's fucking incredible. Those who read it in the stealth big girls thread a few days ago know what I'm talkin' about.

Exactly! People that bitch about the asspulls are missing the point. Alot of the fun of Jojo is all the crazy shit, asspulls included, and the themes of the story.

Asspulls in and of themselves don't necessarily ruin a story, though they certainly can. Samurai Jack's asspull at the end gets as much shit as it does (and rightly so imo), probably because of everything that follows it. After what feels like a cheap asspull, the audience is greeted with greater exacerbated pacing problems and a series of illogical events that lead to what many (myself included) feel is an unsatisfying conclusion.
