I liked it when it was a show about a half-alien kid going on adventures with his alien friends to find artifacts and fight monsters. But that was a long time ago.

First half of the first season was BAD...

Our "Hero" was a whiny brat who fucked everything over if he didn't get his way.

He eventually gets better, but most were turned off the show entirely before then.

Also even though I like Star myself the main reason that hasn't really exploded like SU is because from my stand its just aright not bad one bit but nothing about it has really wowed me so far and I'm near the end of the second season.

>the focus of a terrible fandom and antifandom
>a show rife with an over saturated art style
>a show with a lack of consistency in both art and broadcasting
>a flawed piece of media getting praised as perfection while others /co/ prefers fade into obscurity

A lot of shows may have one or two of these points but if they all culminate into one show it can really rustle jimmies.

Hype backlash. Happened with Undertale, Overwatch, Attack on Titan, etc. Recently, I'm starting to see it with Star Vs. the Forces of Evil. It's gonna happen with anything that's overexposed.
