the actual answer is that the armor WILL feature in the film, but for at least part of it - and for promo material - they want to draw attention to the gauntlet.

If he's wearing his full armor, the gauntlet blends right in and doesn't look like the special important plot device it needs to be. They'll reintroduce the armor once they've established to the audience that the gauntlet is A Big Deal.

I get the logic but now I'm salty, it's funny because I wasn't mad before I figured it was just Marvel studios getting people ready to adjust to a dressed down look for an end akin to farmer Thanos, they'd show him looking casual early as possible so the sudden switch wouldn't be as jarring.

But if it's just to pronounce something they could just use fucking angles and lighting and shit to draw focus too instead of fucking his look over. God. Dammit.

The entire point to begin with anyway was that the gauntlet was just part of his armor. In Thanos Quest he doesn't even have it when he collects all the gems they're just floating in his possession, he modifies his gauntlet for convenience it's of no inherit worth.

I didn't mean exclusively for marketing, it's definitely a design choice. But it definitely did play into them deciding to use it for promo shots and for earlier scenes with him when he has the gauntlet.

I don't see it as a problem at all? It's just another aspect of storytelling in film, the costume is fine, and we still get more armored thanos in the movies.

Consider Hellboy for another example: would Hellboy's arm be anywhere near as distinct or interesting if he was wearing a full suit of armor, as opposed to a loose trenchcoat or casual wear? I don't think it would be, I'd probably just chalk it up to "one arm has different armor design memes."

I agree that trying to take the input of the dregs of society (focus groups) too seriously can lead to really bad decisions in media but I think this isn't that and that it's totally fine and a non-issue.
