Got this page finished today, still fleshing the characters some more. I really should build a stock of pages, but as for now simply meeting the deadline is enough work.

Also, I've uploaded all the pages in spanish, if someone is interested.

Next month I'll try my best to make an extra page each week.

[reposting the post because i was an idiot and had a thread name in my name don't judge me].

So I have a webcomic that pretty much boils down to a fan-comic to an animated movie, taking place in the same world it was made.

I really ought to be working on the next page, but I have that sense of "why" going on.

Anyone else get that vibe?

Also it's a comic to the movie Zootopia, so yeah also I hope im using spoiler right

>"When 19-year-old emu farmer Mizu gets tired of waiting for life to happen, she takes her favorite babysitting charges out on the adventure of a lifetime!
>Taking place 11 years after the end of "Kiwi Day", this sequel carries on the story of the next generation of lazy, overpowered heroes. Its variable-length vertical-strip format required a unique "old torah scroll" form of binding, which our studies show is much more engaging than turning pages! And at over 40 pounds, you'll give your arms AND your funny bone a workout.

I want to make a collect-the-macguffins style adventure in the vein of Xaiolin Showdown/Bionicle/Jackie Chan Adventures/ect. in short, episodic chapters, with the characters going to a different realm to find a new powered artifact every chapter (before the deeper plot kicks in), with a team of aliens battling the humans for control over said artifacts. Is this still a viable premise these days or will it be seen as too cliche and boring? Also, what are some things I could do to spice the premise up?
>>
>>94133684
Has anyone ever done or seen a racing comic? Like Motorcity in comic form?
>>
>>94138595
Sadly it's just about someone killing people in a soda shop
>>
>>94138662
You've already spiced it up a tad by making each one found in a different realm, I mean that's pretty nuts. An entire plane of existence to find each thing on?
Just don't make it fucking gay like most of them, make it cool like Jackie Chan Adventures.. only cooler than that.
Something that comes to mind for me is what if each of these trinkets is like, the same... thing for its realm. Like it's the keystone that holds that universe together or allows transportation to it or whatever. That would explain why these aliens want them, they're from our universe too but somewhere else, yknow.. maybe only the equivalent of earth in each realm has portals because we're speshul
>>
>>94138723
It's hard enough to make a fight satisfying in a comic since it takes so much more panel real estate than dialogue does, I can't imagine a race working, when races are already boring on tv and in movies... i mean, when the race is the focus. If the race is PART of the story, it's fun. But racing as a sport is the most brain-dead activity imaginable.
>>
>>94138539
The world could use more tops like this
>>
>>94135125
What the fuck is going on with the perspective in the middle panel? The counter is four-dimensional.
>>
>>94139151
I assumed it was an obtuse angle
>>
>>94139214
Unless that angle symmetrical arrow shaped point at the center that just happens to slant downward, nah, that ain't what's happening.
>>
>>94138008
So are you interested?
>>
>>94139396
>angle symmetrical arrow shaped point at the center that just happens to slant downward
what?
>>
>>94138771
Thank you. Advice on making the story "not fucking gay"? I will say ship pandering is pretty much a no-go since it attracts just the worst kinds of people possible, so I think that'll help cull a lot of problems. I'd prefer to avoid attracting "fandom" types.
>>
>>94138831
Well, obviously there would be story besides "GOTTA MAKE ANOTHER LEFT TURN", street racing would just be one of the vehicles for conflict.

I was just thinking how autsitically cool it'd be to make a comic about race-cars and not fuck it up, because as you've said, action in general is hard to do.
>>
>>94139661
Actually I was going to suggest focusing on the hot aspects, but the important thing is making danger and action feel real, the fantastic aspects not seem silly, and for god's sake if you're going to give things foreign names to sound cool, actually look up real ones, instead of what two of your three examples did.

I'm pretty bad at sketching digitally, things just lack focus and I can't get strong movement going. Problem is I only have a small scanner which means I gotta draw on 8.5x11 paper and I'm not so good at small scale details. Especially when my gottdang blue pencils don't erase.
Any tips for stronger digital sketches? I have a medium intuous pro and I use SAI.
>>
>>94141414
I would suggest drawing each panel separately then instead of all on one paper.
but forget all that if you're interested in digital sketching. Just go big and do exactly what you'd normally do. You'll never go back to paper again, once you can not just erase but resize, rotate, cut and paste bits together... I would suggest trying either really thick or really thin lines, depending on your sketching style. Also, as you go, if you think a sketch is getting there but you want to sort of go over it in more detail before the lineart stage, lighten the whole thing (or just the parts that need refining) and then draw over it.
>>
>>94141571
Yeah I understand all those advantages and I've made use of them in my complete pages. It's just that the act of sketching itself I find incredibly difficult digitally. I'll just keep trying though.
>>
>>94141652
I know it can be tricky zooming in and out for sure. I'd say do a VERY vague sketch while totally zoomed out, so you at least have the scale right, then zoom in a little for each part
>>
>>94141674
I'll give that a shot for page 4 and see how it works. For 3 at least I'm just gonna sketch over parts that need a bit more detail.
I'd love to bring my sketch quality to something around pic related but I feel like I can capture it with paper size and the rendering to be redundant given my digital coloring.
>>
>>94141772
I mean, that is not a sketch anymore.. that is a finished product, emphasis on the pro
>>
>>94142008
It's sorta a sketch. It's the pencils which are then given to the inker and/or colorist to complete.

>>

Wait, white hair is supposed to be a fox?

Foxes have long, thin muzzles as well as that distinctive pattern around the mouth. Cats have shorter, rounder faces in comparison.

Even if she's an arctic fox instead of a British red fox, she should have a longer muzzle.
I'd just call her a cat and have done with it.

I am pretty sure there's someone like that in Recettear. and there definitely is in the Paper Marios in their special marathon dungeons.
>>94144811
This is really interesting. Your skill at drawing individual parts seems really fantastic, but the proportions look to me like they could use some serious tweaking. I'd like to see her eyes higher and spaced further apart, her right upper-arm thickened to match the left, and a longer palm (it should be the same length as the fingers. the other hand looks right)

It's what people do who have small scanners and still work on analog media. That way each panel can still be big and detailed. I don't know about being a crutch, it's a lot of extra work keeping it all planned out right. You have to plan how you're going to assemble it in the end, etc
>>
>>94149380
I wouldn't call it a crutch either. Its just an added step. Doesn't mean you aren't planning a page layout before.

I think people like to just act as if "harder" or "less convenient" means better. It's not a crutch to do something if you could legitimately do it going forward indefinitely. You'd just be treating the final layout as a digital submission rather than a physical submission.

I know people don't usually like flashbacks, but can I write a story that starts somewhere in the future or the present, and then flashback to how it started? start a story where a hero is fighting a villain and flashback to how he became a hero, or show two friends in the oresent and show later how they met? I'm trying to write stories, but I'm stuck on how to start the story, so I thought maybe I could flashback to stuff after I figure things out.

>can I

Always yes.
Will it work? Always maybe

Also that's fairly common. Shit that's half of the Deadpool flick. Vonnegut said "Start as close to the end as possible." and I've heard similar sentiments from other authors.

Only JK Rowling starts with "Let me tell you a tale of a baby on a doorstep". Though I paraphrase, we all know it was silly. And ate it up (if you didn't you're too young for me to care). And even then there was THE DEEPEST LORE that goes back to his parents being in school.

Flashbacks aren't a problem if they're preplanned. It's when it isn't that they're dangerously similar to retcons. As long as you plan "this will have happened to the character in their past" being a thing you have to fill in it shouldn't be a problem. Retro-fixing things with flashbacks is what generally draws ire, in my most humble opinion.
>>
>>94153711

Guess I will go with my start in the middle of the story and flashback later sthick then, I just wish I could figure out some details to start of my story, but nothing comes to mind. Maybe I'll just sit down for a few hours and try to nail things out.

Write the scenes that come to you and figure out how they got there. Then figure out why the left the place they were before. Then figure out where that place was. And why the were at that place and not the place they were before that.

OR

Go back to the scene you had in your head and figure out what happens next or how it connects to another scene you wrote and liked which comes later.

Some may say "that's literally the worst way to write a story". I say, firstly, there is no "right" process of creation, and, secondly, you likely won't write a great story anyway so why not get better at breaking down road blocks along the way? That is to say none of us will ever find our work perfect don't let that stop you.

And you have to fill holes in a plot anyway too. So why wait until your idea gets stolen or stale? (don't be paranoid about losing your work but do work studiously and make measurable progress).
>>

My tablet pen broke. It's an old wacom bamboo. Anyone have any experience buying pens for old tablets? I can't tell if they'll work with mine or not I'm kind of an idiot when it comes to this stuff. Also, recs for good comic making programs would be good. I like 'light' programs like sai or mypaint.
>>
>>94156986
MediBang Paint has built in templates for making comic pages, and is small, fast and free.
While I use it a lot for sketching, I haven't fully used its comic templates as I use Clip Studio Paint for that.

As for the pens, do a thorough search to see which generations of wacom pen are compatible with your tablet. You might still be okay to pick up a new pen, but you may have to bite the bullet and upgrade.
>>
>>94156986
I promise any online pen listing will tell you what it's compatible with, and if not in the description, then definitely down in the Q+A
as for good programs, clipstudio/mangastudio. It has everything photoshop has but better (except PS has a few superior paintbrushy tools), runs lighter, and it costs very little

feet are a funny thing, they change a lot in response to forces (if you ever see someone with no arms who's had to use their legs to hold things, the big toe actually separates and spreads), and because you don't interact with them every day they have to be a lot weirder before they hit the eye as deformed-looking. The digits can vary tremendously in proportion. Those are definitely on the small side, but i find most drawings err on that side. I can't think of where, but I just saw feet like this in some cartoon

actually the one way he could probably fix it is to extend the lines between each toe further back

Does your villain/antagonist get any sort of redemption?

No. They already had their redemption years ago. They're just tired and forgotten now.

This comic is based off of an interaction I had with a friend back in Highschool.
I didn't totally know how to interact with other people, or how to react to them either.

There are a lot of moments from Highschool that are just burned into my mind as almost lynchian examples of human interaction happening in real life.

I don't want to forget weird moments of life like this.
This isn't exactly how it happened... well no it's pretty spot on, but some context is left out.
But I just wanted to do this quick.

I'd say that only a couple of my villains are beyond redeemable. One is a crazed Dictator that wants to ascend into Godhood and another is a Super-powered Ex-con who threatens to destroy the upper caste of society merely for shits and giggles.

I like playing with antagonistic features rather than making someone "beyond" redemption. For example, one of my "villains" is actually just the necessary evil he feels is needed in the universe and to an extent his views and philosophies holds truth.

Another character of mine is a foil to the MC and acts as an antagonistic force from time to time, but the two usually team up and help each other overcome themselves.

Nigger is a fun word to say. Seriously, how childminded do people have to be to get in such a fit over a word? It's like growing up all over again when your parents told you "you shouldn't say things like cuss words" and then they do it anyway. The more you use a word, the more decentralized it becomes. Black people call each other niggers all the time, either in a form of endearment or to literally call them out for acting like a nigger.
>>

It gives you a chance to practice character interactions and general character posing and whatnot.
>>
>>94167229
I think it was already funny just in the first four panels, but the complete comic is also funny, I would just make sure to put all eight together. the break does nothing for the humor.
also, his friend IS black, right? it's a little hard to tell in Doubutsu no Mori style, and he.. kinda paused a bit, but that hairline..
>>
>>94167271
I have done comics, granted only a couple. I just meant more in keeping an ongoing series of comics kind of way.
But practice sounds good nonetheless.

The break was only because of the size of the page.
I didn't want to make the whole thing too big to post.
Also, breaking the pages meant less Layers to fuss with.

>what's this for exactly?

A fantasy western about dead people. And yeah I did make these songs, here's a couple more because I don't think my personal compositions will make it beyond being placeholder. At least not in the form that they're in here.

I think it's better to begin with a more "comfy" kind of webcomic before going to a bigger story. Good practice and can also help you see mistakes on the whole process that you can avoid once you go for a story you actually want to see as ongoing.

ah, right on. confusion is even better. You've preserved that nicely in the comic, it will serve it well

Why would you need the app? You can use your browser
>>
>>94172595
Tapas had an issue a few months ago because of a change in their policy that sounded extreme (they being able to take priority over other third party publishers or something like that). Their intention was to protect artists from publishers that wanted to offer them unfair shares and the like, but they did so without consulting anybody else and the community didn't take it well. The change lasted less than a day iirc, but I think some artists left after that. Maybe the one you mention did it for it.

I had a nice idea on the dractits comic contest, but i'm far too late to produce good content.

I wanted to make a comic about a vampire college teacher and her teacher's pet of a vampire killer who happened to be diabetic, but fuck it, it will never be done on time.

Plus this time, I had a cute vampire girl.
>>
>>94181161
I like it when people point out all the complications in the whole drinking blood thing, instead of just taking it for granted
so far i've never seen anyone address how blood-drinking animals usually have to pee constantly because blood has a ton of excess water you don't need to carry around
>>
>>94181204
in my planned comic, i wanted the vampire to be a glorified insulin tester thingie that diabetics use. It would have been cute

I know that bears and tigers and shit have their canine teeth as their fourth tooth in, rather than the third like ours.. is that what you mean? because in humans clearly the third tooth is the canine and if you're a mix of shit that's how it'd turn out. like how you have a pointy human ear, not a little bat ear..

What's hilarious to me is that the association of vampires with bats came before anyone had been to the new world and seen... vampire bats. That must have blown their damn minds. In Brazil, the vampires are supposed to be fish people or something. It's a total crapshoot
It's just like how vampires became associated with the social class of 'count' (and thus the pun about counting for the muppet) totally unrelated to their fabled tendency towards compulsive counting

It's a matter of diet and how to suck.
Canines are mostly for intimidation and to eat raw meat, which is why carnivores and omnivores have them really long.

Bats that drink blood have larger incisors (central ones to be exact) because they bite their victim, let the blood come out and then just lick it.

If you were to bite someone and claw your fangs on them, if they are in your canines the blood will just go all over the place. I guess that kinda explains why some vampires end with their whole face being a mess and wasting so much blood. On the other hand if you bite and claw your incisors, the blood flows more naturally into your mouth.
>>
>>94184071
ahaha, wow
>>
>>94183942
Is more "scarier" if your vamp's teeth looks like a predator (bear, lion, wolf, etc) than a bunny, that's why Vampires in general have longer canines than longer central incisors.

>English is hard. It's probably even harder than learning to draw well.

Eh, little fixing could help.
>>
>>94184159
Oh it's the FIRST teeth. Yeah I think I knew that, actually. They just sort of pierce-and-lick
But if your plan was to cause major bleeding but suck it out, canines would work great. just as long as you had proper lips. humans have fantastic lips. great for sucking.
also I don't think canines actually help with meat, that's what the carnassial molars are for. My molars are fucking bitchin, none of that flat shit for me, they have serious bladey edges.
But yeah, i just looked up pictures, bears' canines are one more tooth back than ours. I guess they can fit anywhere
also I see from pictures that vampire bats have their first AND second teeth as fangs, but the second ones are sitting back where canines normally go. I guess that's for backup

also, it occurs to me, wasn't there a silly old-old-movie vampire whose front teeth were the fangs? I guess that one was more accurate.

I think those other fangs work for fights, but I'm not sure myself on it. Technically canines is not that they are so helpful with meat, but they are prevalent in predators because of all the fighting and killing they have to do. My first molars have pointy edges as well, I think those are the ones for meat too. Technically our other molars are more for our plant needs mixed with meat.

Damn the teeth world is just another level.
>>
>>94184525
your FIRST molars eh? interesting, mine get less flat as they go back.
Yeah teeth are fucking nuts. I wish we could just replace them shark-style. but then I guess we'd have to eat a lot of bones to make up for it... and then we'd have to be able to digest bones.. and then if we puked it'd hurt more.

I've never understood why people think toothbrushes make a difference. Think about it, does your toilet brush work? if you've ever tried using a brush on dishes, did it work?
or did both of them fail hard, until you switched to a sponge, and just.. accepted how gross it would get
teeth have more in common with ceramic dishes and toilets. you need a smooth object, be it your tongue, a rag (what pretty much everyone in history has used), or something like that. I find briefly chewing on a paper napkin tends to wipe everything clean.
but then I think I have advantages over some. If there's anything stuck to my teeth I can feel it, and it drives me nuts until I've removed it. plus i might have a difference in immune syste and/or enzymes, I've heard those happen.
I DO use mouthwash though, the shit with calcium in it. and I chew up and spit out tums sometimes if I get that 'you just had too much acid or sugar or whatever' feeling.

Are you a proffessional Artist / graphic designer / Illustrator?
Whom did you sell your Soul to get this good? Like, there's plenty of good artists but your composition, the Panel flow, font, it's all top notch. Even the dialogue is perfect for the concept: not too heady, not too simplistic.

Hey dorkso. I have a Cintiq, but I don't currently have enough cashola to replace my broken pen. I pulled out my Bamboo Fun, but evidently Windows 10 and Wacom don't support older version in the bamboo line. The computer detects input from the tablet, but it is not 1:1 with my monitor. It covers about 1/4 the monitor area, and detection is still choppy.

My question. Does anyone here know if there's a way to use the Bamboo Fun (CTH 661) on a windows 10 machine? I've got an itch to draw and I really prefer digital. Thanks a ton, cuties.
>>
>>94186498
>I'm not working on anything atm.
How.. is that possible?
>>
>>94188514
That tablet is around 8 years old, unless you can somehow install drivers that were meant to work with Windows 7 at most, you're fucked. Either that or try the Bamboo pen on the cintiq, a lot of Wacom styluses are compatible across the entire product range.
>>
>>94187611
>even your roughs look better than my simplified art
There's something nobody has been able to answer me.. how do you make the choices? Like, in one panel it's facing head on, in the next it's a 3/4 turn with a slight overhead angle.. in the next, it's about 45 degrees overhead with her looking up.. then a closeup on a 3/4-away face with another person distant, then it's a reverse over the shoulder shot, then back to a regular one but this time closer together.. then one going over the shoulder of the other.. how do you choose? these all seem completely random to me. I try to just regurgitate the direction decisions in media that I like, but I don't notice or remember any. If you asked me to recreate any of the famous scenes from anything, I'd just imagine it as a stage play. "Everyone is there and you can just see them all from far away, sort of from the side"
is my imagination just broken?
>>
>>94189133
Pretty sure the bamboo and cintiq pens are noncompatible. Each wacom line has specific pens.

PSHH hombre your stuff needs to be published, you don't need to be dabble with the internet, you have a future!

Question: What gets you guys to read the webcomics you read?
What do you look for OR what catches you eye typically?
>>
>>94189433
I've used intuos styluses on my cintiq, and cintiq styluses on the bamboo. They don't have anything other than design differences. The tech is all the same.
>>

>>
>>94190385
It's hard to say, but funny you should be the one to ask, because you specifically have it. You have it up and down.
It's some kind of mix of charm and just having-similar-tastes-to-me that makes me feel invited and welcomed in to look at this art. I like getting the impression that the author cares a lot, and that this is not going to just suddenly end and leave me blue-eyeballed
>>
>>94189661
Oh god I just realized her tits are talking.. and in the singular, at that.
>>
>>94191124
Hey thanks man, I appreciate that.
I don't think I could tell you how much I care about this series and how much I want you guys to join in on the action and enjoy it with us.

Hopefully my art can continue to improve so more peeps are excited to read it. Always battled with grabbing people's attention with my art.

Boys Land is also gonna be long...like we've planned for it to be like 25 arcs? I forget, the writer knows for sure, I always forget.
So many great characters, so many fun environments we want to get to, so many moments that have me either hyped for or cry over it.

Legit started to cry after thinking about a finale scene we'll be planning far in the future.
>>
>>94160732
It depends.

The villain for the first arc (the one I'm working on atm) is a real cunt, but eventually stops antagonizing the heroes and joins their cause as the obligatory antihero.

The main main antagonist, the one behind the part of the story I have laid out so far, less so. He's like Moral Orel's Clay in the sense that he's had plenty of chances for redemption in his life but his own arrogant self loathing/centered nature always keeps him just out of grace. He also preys on the vulnerabilities of teenagers, specifically teenage girls, and is at the head of a cult trying to resurrect a lovecraftian horror mistaken for the second coming of christ, so he's also not the sort of guy you'd want redeemed anyways.

10/10 cuteness. Good proportions, nice shapes... it's all good.
However, she stops being very robotic below those pauldrons, and when the only mechanical-looking stuff on you is up around your head and shoulders, that kind of says "space suit" to most people. Is she just meant to have a flexible body coating? Because you could still have evidence of joints below it.. though in that simple style, not sure how

also is her head just floating?
>>
>>94189160
Hey anon, when I draw these I ask myself where I would put camera to best show the story. Show enough so that the story is easy to understand but not too much that each panel become a chore to read.
In page 2, panel 1 and 2: the camera is zoomed in with his face taking most of the frame. The panels are also right next together and the same size to contrast Dracula's appearances.
In panel 3, he's touching his cheek, we can use the same head on camera angle, but it would be a little bit repetitive. So I turned the camera so it's a 3/4 view.
In panel 4, the camera zooms out, goes up and looks down so we could see more of Dracula (revealing more of his situation) and also the magic circle on the ground(telling us how he got revived).
In panel 5, I need to (re)introduce Igor who is sitting on the side of Drac (telling us who revived him). I put the camera on the side to change it up from the mostly front-facing angles before, and we can easily see both Igor and Drac in the same panel (so we know where Igor is).
In panel 6 and 7, the camera is put over the shoulder and behind Igor because it is probably the simplest angle to show the action (which is Drac pulling on Igor's snuggie and punching him).
Now we get to page 3, which I'm not really happy about because the first 4 panels kinda show the same thing. The camera is put behind Igor's shoulder with Drac on the right side and Igor on the left side of the panel. It gets a little bit repetitive but I could't think of anything better so I stick with it.

>>94189160
>>94192579
Also, I never showed the background on any of the panels before the last one. One part of this is to keep the time period a mystery. Another part is to keep focus on the characters. It also saves time.
When we look at manga, often time the artist chose not to draw background but instead putting in some background effects or speeds line or whatever. Obviously if you don't draw the bg and keep it white too much it can seem lazy, like Kubo's Bleach.
Pic related is an example from One Punch Man. Only the first and the last panels show the characters in proper scenic bg. The rest of the bg reflects their emotional states rather than actual space. Yet it doensn't seem lazy or repetitive, and we understand exactly what's going on.
I wish there were some books that go into this but i haven't found any so far.

>>94192579
It seems so easy when you put it like that. all I ever think in every situation is that I want to see everything.
>not showing background until the end
Yeah I've only just started to notice that a lot of people do that. I just ignore backgrounds so often when reading that it's hard to know if they were there, and have no idea when to draw them. I usually feel uncomfortable leaving them out in my comic because I might well use a background shift to show a scene change
>>
>>94192736
It might help if you think about the fact that the effort you're putting in now is not the same kind of effort you'll put in later when you're good. Each step you take has the primary benefit and purpose of moving forward somewhat. It's not there so you can practice being better at step-taking. That means no matter what, you're accomplishing something

Got some questions I was hoping you guys would have experience with and be able to answer.

I have a comic, a Twitter, Tumblr, and hopefully soon a Patreon.

I want to start drawing some lewds and porn on the side, and obviously for Twitter I can just make an extra account and for Tumblr I can make a NSFW blog, but I have two questions:
On Twitter, I see lots of NSFW artists post things in a box like pic related. How do I get my posts to do that? Do I have to do something special when making the account?

And for Patreon, I'd really rather not have to have two different Patreon accounts, so would it be okay to have NSFW and SFW stuff under one account? Can I have multiple tiers of the same cost that give access to SFW or NSFW stuff?
How would that work?

Any help would be appreciated.

Yes he is! Illuminated Providence the most wanted criminal!
This was a thought that came after beginning to write the script actually, since I'm already using old designs to make challenge stories, it would be fun to make them all share a universe since they don't have any real place to go. Except back to my college notebooks. It's a sad place.

>mosquito vampires are sooo cool, reminds me of one character in soul eater
>>94200412

Thanks again buddies! I always wondered why there were so few or none bloodsucking bug vampires, seeing that they all drink blood one would think they are easier to put together than fuit-eating bats or rats. And then you have the "male mosquitoes don't really drink blood, just the females" bit and now you get a whole vampire society going. It's a fun thing to play with.

I may check the 2 examples you guys said, I really need some more vampire bugs in my life.

Would it be better to earn money through a free webcomic with ad revenue, or publish one free Kindle comic book, and then charge for the following comic books?

Which is the better way to make money? I want to share my story ideas with people but I don't see a problem seeking the best way to earn money too.
>>
>>94201761
well that's what matters. I can see something for you to work on right now, 3d shapes. See those flat trashcans sitting up against the walls? Try thinking about their 'footprint' first, and draw that circle on the ground, then you can draw lines upward from it, think about how the top of the lid would look from that angle..
>>
>>94201858
You need an audience if you want to make money selling books online. Unless you're already popular, do your webcomics comics for free. Also, don't count on making a lot of money at first, gaining readership for ad/Patreon revenue is an uphill battle.
>>
>>94201858
Standard resolution webcomic for free, with ads.

Larger resolution pages on Patreon, available to subscribers before the standard version.

Hi-Res comic collection for sale in print and/or digital editions with extras.

You're still not guaranteed to make any money, but having a Patreon, putting ads on your site, and publishing a digital collection on Comixology won't cost you anything. Putting out print collections are where it starts to get expensive.

I found a very old comic I never finished on my old drive. 20 pages of stupid shit written in french which is basically a retelling of sonichu, but over the top.

I should finish it, the comic as is is pretty unreadable, but i can't stop laughing at the sheer stupidity I went through with this shit. It was a tie-in with a game i made for my then-girlfriend.
The comic was just called: HARRY. About Harry Conhager and his "harry girls" trying to defend Harryville against the forces of the Private Castle of the Virtuous Vagrants who used dark magic to power up incels and loveshies. Pretty autistic storyline where the USA are ruled with an iron fist by a hot female president, and for some reason, Cyber-Obama. Pretty autistic lore.

Why are french comic artists so good at drawing lewd women? Theres something about the curves.
Hey /hyw/, newfag here. I'm a writer and I can't draw for shit. I have a story that I've almost finished the pre-writing for. The problem is that the theme, poker, leads it to a more visual medium than just text.

Should I partner with an artist, or just grind out /ic/ for a few months to become competent? I don't really care for drawing that much, so it seems like it would be a waste, but I've heard horror stories about partnered comics.

What do?

Depends of what you're aiming for. Some good webcomics are awful looking. Look at ONE.

The thing is not about drawing well, it's about drawing a comic efficiently: knowing what makes a page stand out. ONE is a terrible artist, I mean, the dude's almost on chris-chan's level of drawing. The key on why one punch man works is the fact that the layout of the pages, the writing, themes, rythm, panelling is clearly mastered to the point it's fucking enjoyable to read. His characters are great and shit. So if you want to do a good comic, draw it yourself. Even if it's ugly, if you understand what makes a good written comic, you'd be on the road.

It's practically impossible to find an artist over the internet unless you're willing to pay him/her.
If you're still at college or know some artists in your personal life you have a chance.
Definitely don't try in hyw all you're going to do is get "*sent :^)" replies and start stupid artist vs writer arguments.

Personally, I'd recommend you to just find people you know can draw and talk to them irl, eventually you'll find someone who's willing to collaborate if you get lucky. If you're really dedicated, also make a workmap and go to comic conventions and just speak to small time artists directly. Good luck.
