Hey /co/, having a good Sunday?

Today's storytime is a freshly scanlated eurocomic. Today we have volume 1 of Gudesonn, a police investigation thriller with conspiracy elements based in an alt history where the world is divided up between polytheistic powers. I did enjoy the glimpses of the wider world offered in this, and I thought it was a good first volume in a promising series.

Comments, etc. are more than welcome.

>hare was 15 kilos
I'd stick to one system of measurement here:

A quick online conversion gives that as a 33.0693 lb bunny. Which would be big enough for a small child to ride on, I expect.

Also, that sounded pretty light for a Salmon ( those are the fish you see a 600lb Grizzly bear swatting out of the air ( see image related ); so I googled it aaaaaand:

I would assume this. Getting something as basic as that right is usually standard, but this one feels very me-too-ish, so it wouldn't surprise me if they didn't bother with proper research.

This reminds me of watching anime where they just toss in names that sound cool.

I mean: a data tree being named after The World Tree makes perfect sense; but it's odd that he refers to an Egyptian god rather than Odin or the Norns.

I assume that there's a reason for it here given that the dude's name is Amenhotep; although it might just be to bring home the whole "multiple polytheists" dealio.

I have no idea what this means. Who is Ben?

>>94106919
a) They use the different measurements here.
b) It's always a dilemma when I encounter a factual error like this. I don't want to get too editorial, but I also want it to be right. I'll probably end up calling it like 20, 30 pounds. Also I messed up, it was actually a 25 kilo bunny.

I'd suggest:
"are resisting/stonewalling/dragging their feet on the new standards"
Or:
"resent having new standards imposed"

Depending on the flavor of the original.

Also:
>"The negotiations are long"
Sounds ... odd. "are ongoing" would be more natural and is typical doublespeak for "we're just spinning out wheels and getting nowhere fast."

I'd say so:
1 - The people saying "one god BAD!" are literally babykillers
2 - The hero is an atheist ranting bout how their Gods are false/fake/useless.
3 - going back to point 1 they're also more or less acting out one of the most famous bits from the Birth of Christ from the Christian New Testament:

Just to add to what I pointed out here:
>>94109214
The dude's name is Amenhotep. If you're rusty on your Ancient History:

"Amenhotep IV changed his name to Akhenaton, meaning "the Servant of Aten" early in his reign. Whereas his father, Amenhotep III, had sought to reduce the increasing power of the priesthood, Akhenaton practically dismantled it. Akhenaton started his reign as most Egyptian kings. But fairly early in his reign he introduced a monotheistic worship of Aten, the Sun God. At first he attempted to place temples for next to temples for other gods. Eventually he closed all the other temples and took their revenues.

In the process of this religious revolution, Akhenaton placed him self as the intermediary between Aten and the people. This helped eliminate the need for the priesthood. As the only one with access to the god, Akhenaten established himself as a god-king and became the first king to be called Pharoah."

>infinite multitude which swarms in the dark
A swarm IS a multitude and "infinite" also means "without number/a fuck-ton" so this is a bit redundant.

Unless, of course, The Infinite Multitude Which Swarms in the Dark is a proper name being carried over from Egyptian ( which actually doesn't sound too far off from some of the titles they gave things ).
>>
>>94099901
>Don't worry, bro.
That sounds like something one college fratboy would say to another; not something a police detective would say to a priest ( even if he is literally his brother. ) I'd either use the full word "brother" or "man." Of course "brother" isn't as slang-y and "man" is generic/not as familiar so it depends on if you're going for "sounds more natural" or "is more faithful to the original text."

015
Yeah, we straight up took that word from the French, I think we use it more than the yanks. Might go for nursery. Day care I don't like because not muh version of English.

016
I think Althing is the English way of spelling it, I guess Alting is the real scandinavian way? If so, I'll probably make that change given that we have valbor-consonant-soup.

Gravity and severity are pretty much synonyms, and gravity of the situation is a set phrase.

The original is 'Tous seront alors les bienheureux aînés d'Ousir'. I don't know how else to translate it, aîné should perhaps be eldest child or firstborn, but I don't see how that makes more sense, any suggestions, peeps?

>>94109729
Swarm can be a verb though, I think used to evoke insects, bugs, disgusting creepy crawlies. The 'infinite multitude' bit is I think used as a reference to Thomas Aquinus' Summa Theologica where he contemplates the nature of god, the possibility of his infinity, etc.
