The game just rewards zoning way to much. You get some meter every time you use your move, beside meter burn roll there are few options to get around zoning, and characters like Deadshot will just end up pushing you all the way back to the other side of the screen even if you block his attack. I'm okay with zoning in other games but injustice rewards it way to much.

I don't know about that. There are some designs that I preferred the IGAU version over like Blackadam's Regime costume. Cyborg looked better in GAU, too. The Joker definitely works better as a cartoony caricature in GAU than his Ledger wannabe version in I2.

Yeah that game is ugly as sin, even when compared to MK9 which came before it. I think the horrible washed out colors and mostly grey look it had was the worst part of it though some of the bad models certainly didn't help.
