Can Cartoon Network die? I've been looking at their premier ratings and 1 million is rare, on average they are hitting .8m with pretty much all their shows, they were getting twice that two years ago. Their big shows are ending and most of them can't end soon enough with the absolute garbage rating they are receiving. Hell Clarence is doing twice as well as PPG but it's been cancelled. They have like 4 spots to fill by 2018 and all they have shown is OK-KO and the Ben 10 reboot. Is it possible that the channel is about to change drastically? Can a channel even end? What does that look like?
>>
>>94072060
the channel is almost entirely adult swim and teen titans go re-runs at this point or re-syndicate some of their older stuff
at this point they could probably afford to just go back to 4-7pm on weekdays being toonami as I feel they're probably not doing well with adult audiences right now because of how everyone older than 10 feels about teen titans go
at the same time though, they're still not at CN REAL nielsen numbers, but not nearly where they've been at some points in the past
>>
this is happening to every channel. tv is just outdated.
>>
>>94072183
Oh shit did CN real have lower ratings? So CN dying is just them not producing new shows? Jus re-running old shows with the occasional premier?
>>
>>94072244
But what's the breaking point? When does tv get dumped? That's what I want to know, how low can the ratings go before people start sounding off the alarms.
>>
>>94072349
The moment that producing the programm, paying people cost more than advertisment brings in.
>>
>>94072060
take looney tunes, Popeye and some hana barbara shit off boomerang and put it back on CN to break up TTG
>>
It's because their premier times are usually 6-7am, they air nothing but TTG and release all their episodes on the app.
>>
>>94072349

Why do you think so many big ISPs are championing to abolish net neutrality so hard?
Because their TV services are dying in the face of streaming services like Netflix and Hulu, so they want to charge out the ass for internet packages instead to make up the difference.
>>
>>94074111
Isn't Hulu owned by 3 of the big 5? Turner included.
>>
An excess of one million for a cable channel has always been rare so that's a terrible measure for a cable channel's lifespan since cable is a subscription service. Another thing to consider is that cable stations measure their On Demand watching to also measure how many people watch a show. Cartoon Network isn't dying, its down but its no where near dying
>>
>>94074111
Net neutrality is a retarded meme filled with over exaggerated fears. Most of you retards don't even realize that Net Neutrality doesn't even in exist in most places and didn't exist in the US until recently. Now you retards think it will be Armageddon without it
>>
>>94074841
It's a push to regulate the internet, fuck that. But nah the big corps that will profit from it control the rebbit narrative. Fucking idiots.
>>
>>94072349
It probably won't get dumped entirely. Radio was supposed to be killed by TV, but it's still a thing, just less popular. Although cars may be the only thing keeping it viable.
>>
>>94072060
I don't know if this would save CN or if it's just what I want but:

I think CN needs to break the daily program schedule into blocks, each with their own color scheme and animation style for their bumps.

1. Old school cartoon block in the morning.
>bumps feature roosters crowing, bacon sizzling, warm colors used, red, yellow orange, white, brown, tan. "Breakfast colors." Some kind of stupid catchphrase like "Time to go to school! The Old School!" Based on the general theme of "the dawn of cartoons." Boomerang feels.
-Any old black and white cartoons they can get like Bosco
-Flintstones
-Jetsons
-Looney Tunes/Merry Melodies
-Tom and Jerry

Mystery Block - purple, turqoise and lime green
-Scooby Doo
-Josie and the pussycats
-Jabberjaw

90's At Noon - Color scheme undecided
-Dexters Lab
-PPG
-Ed Edd and Eddy
-Cow & Chicken
-Johnny Bravo
-2 Stupid Dogs

Bring back Toonami in the afternoons. Color scheme is black, white, gray and navy. Kids are the new teens. Innocence is gone thanks to the internet and smartphones. We dont have to coddle them. Toonami was always 2 things to me: A collection of the quintisential most successful anime, and scifi anime. So I think it should cater to those 2 areas.
-Dragonball
-DBZ
-Sailor Moon
-Cowboy Bebop
-Gundam

Adult Swim is a whole other beast but they should at least air cartoon planet, spaceghost coast to coast, home movies, dr katz, mission hill, the oblongs, and basically one of EACH of their shows a night instead of the same programming block twice, or what ever they're doing now. Nobody who has to stay up all night wants to see the same 6 episodes twice in a row. Its mind numbing.
>>
>>94075102
But where's the TTG block?
>>
>>94072060
Ratings are irrelevant as long as their digital platform numbers do well.

That's how DisneyXD is able to stay alive. The views for Star Vs on official streaming platforms is in the high millions.
>>
>>94074897
>Although cars may be the only thing keeping it viable.
Slow government jobs also keep it alive. I did federal work study for a lot of those and they were often 40+ year old people who would do their paperwork/receptionist job while listening to the radio. I assume because it's more acceptable to have that on than to have your phone playing Netflix on.
>>
TTG has destroyed the network
>>
>>94075102
You forgot about bringing back Cartoon Fridays. Seriously, besides the atmosphere, it's just a good idea to line up a bunch of premieres all at once, and keep a stream of new episodes coming in every week, instead of doing "bombs" or whatever.
Brand new shows would also do better, since they'd be carried by existing, popular shows.
>>
>>94072060
There is no proof in the recent Time Warner finical report to prove Cartoon Network is dying. Actually it proves the exact opposite for the last quarter. Might want to look up some facts instead of shit posting and hoping idiots will not do research. This is not /pol/ people research things.
>>
Channel just needs to make selected lineups again instead of filling everything with one of three shows.

Alot of the audience does not have cable packages. I love CN shows but I will NOT buy a cable package. If they made a CN app like the CW does they could register me as a viewer.

https://www.wsj.com/articles/netflix-agrees-to-pay-comcast-to-improve-its-streaming-1393175346

This was a thing that happened to let you know that Net Neutrally isnt a meme.
>>
>>94079924
>Alot
>>
>>94074896
Except net neutrality is the regulation. The only thing you idiots are operating off of is an assumption that someone will buy all the band with and you won't be able to visit your favorite midget porn site anymore. Pure fucking stupidity
>>
>>94074841
All you need to know about Net Neutrality is that if your ISP wants it, it's bad. If a cable provider wants it, it's worse.

If they both want it, there's no way it can be beneficial to anyone on the planet and needs to be destroyed.
>>
>>94074841
>>94082175
Fuck OFF Comcast
>>
>>94079924
>article before the measure passed

>Retard doesn't know that its a common precedent for companies to pay ISPs for higher broadband speeds

>Still thinks that if the government isn't doing something that all his internet speed will magically disappear.

Please. Kill yourself. Your kind had plagued the US long enough
>>
>>94082201
>Let's meme God-Emperor Trump into office, that'll really trigger those tumblerina SJW snowflakes!
>Waaaah, somebody save us from the explicitly stated platform of the Republican party!
>>
>>94082201
So you have no proof other than your own personal stupid assumptions while still ignoring that NN didn't is less than a fucking decade old but somehow the internet still operated just fine. No, you retards ironically want yo continue the ISP monopoly because you feel that if there isn't enough government cock in your ass then life is shit. You retards are too fucking you to even know that when 4chan was first created that there was no NN
>>
>>94082336
Holy projection Batman, you don't even fucking know if the retard voted for Trump
>>
>>94079924
>A company paying more money to improve service for their customers is bad

I don't know if liberals are retarded or simply stupid at this point
>>
>>94076029
Dead, deader then dead, buried so far into mercury that we will never see it aired again unless some dumbass uses dark magics to revive it.
>>
>>94082628
>killing off your most lucrative show

Looks like you were fired anon
>>
>>94082436
the way the internet worked in 2004 was fundamentally different, we didnt need NN back then

im diametrically opposed to anything that lets big companies do whatever they want
>>
>>94082436
So, tell us, oh wizened one, how the end of NN will end the ISP monopoly.

>he thinks an unregulated free market won't naturally lead to colluding corperate oligarchies stomping out competition to maximize their profits while minimizing effort and expansion
and you have the gall to call anyone else retarded
free market capitalists are just as unrealistic as property sharing communists, its a neat idea but it doesnt actually work like that in the real world
>>
>>94072183
They better fucking not.

Who needs live-action shows on a channel for CARTOONS?
>>
>>94082175
t. Comcast shill

Protip: Heavily regulating an oligarchy/monopoly is okay because it is not a free market.
>>
>>94082755
It was worth it.
>>
>>94072060
Infinite Train will save CN. Maybe.

>>94072060

im starting to be concern considering CN's competition is pushing a lot of interesting content for 2017/18 and they dont really have anything super new
>>
>>94072060
All they need are the same cartoons but with "GO!" at the end of the title. I'm sure they'll make a comeback.
>>
>>94084445
I don't see how.
It's not like they'll ever play it between their TTG marathons every day.
>>
>>94084445
Was it greenlit for a series?
>>
>>94072060
They killed their own channel. Fuck them
>>
>>94084482
>im starting to be concern
>>
question:

people keep saying CN is dying/should die already but does CN closing shop in the US means the other markets closes shop as well?

seems unfair that people complaining about TTG wants the company (CN) to die when other regions that have varied programming would get nuked in the process (if CN US shuts down, all CN channels shut down that is).
>>
>>94074841
Libertarians should be executed.
>>
>>94082553
Fuck yeah it isn't! Like I've been telling my fellow 'pedes, this way I can be sure all my content is filtered for me by my ISP. This way I can be sure I get 100% Not Fake News from my favorite trusted outlets while companies that refuse to pay (probably blacks and cucks) won't be able to get bandwidth! It will be flippin' epic.
>>
>>94088865
Libertarianism is just astrology for men.
>>
>>94072060
>OK-KO
i remember back when that was called "My Hero Academia"
>>
>>94072060
You know how you save it?

Put toonami on a midday prime time block and start bringing in better animated and more masculine shows.
Someone comes in with a tumblr toon, can them.

Easy fix.

A little effort brings in a lot of money.
>>
>>94072060
Double D fears getting snu snu'd by little pink bunny girls.
Guess he hangs out with Chowder.
>>
>>94072060
>The TTG channel is failing
Tell me more
>>
Bring back the action cartoons. No, Steven Universe doesn't count, and neither does the new Ben 10 minisodes. I mean REAL action cartoons, a new fucking Batman, a Superman cartoon, a new Justice League cartoon, a new Swat Katz, fucking ANYTHING with awesome fighting shit in it. Why did action cartoons die off on CN?
>>
>>94082175
That's what I meant, I'm against it
>>
>>94082175
>you won't be able to visit your favorite midget porn site anymore
