Mainly how it responds to moisturizers and shit after a while and if the regimen isn't changed the problem can obviously continue into the new hair and you'd basically never get to grow it out because of breakage.

If it's chemically straightened regardless you have to wait for the new growth to get it back, but if the hair is healthy there are transition styles that work in the meantime. If it's too damaged you basically just have to cut it all off.
