DC has managed to maintain my attention by offering at least a few decent stories in their line-up no matter what. They also didn't fumble the diversity push as hard as Marvel did, most of DC's new diversity hires are actually decent characters like Jessica Cruz.

Because they don't let politics infest their work. Sure, they can get topical and social justicey from time to time, but usually it actually fits the themes of the story. Marvel seems to think that social justice is a story. America Chavez, for example, is a strong queer Latina girl...and that's it. That's her entire personality. But that's not a personality, and I don't want to read that.

tl:dr, DC hires writers who want to write characters, Marvel hires Tumblr bloggers who want to use characters to prove how woke they are.

Marvel doesn't take returns and retailers are stuck with books they don't sell.
