I only ever saw a few episodes of the old X Men cartoon when

I remember liking the stories but geing turned off by the cheesy animation. The animation suffers because the character designs are far too ambitious in detail.

Evolution or TAS?

I have a hard time choosing. I prefer the greater emphasis on team work and superheroics in TAS, but Evolution was just so goddamn comfy.

It wasn't good.
That doesn't mean it was the worst thing ever either, it was serviceable as a kids action show...nothing more nothing less. It doesn't hold up like Batman TAS but it wasn't quite as vapid as Street Sharks. It simply existed and served it's purpose at the time.

I like Wolverine and the X-Men best.
I'm annoyed they killed it because of rights mix ups.
