still a shit pairing, and Danny shouldn't have hooked up period. Valerie was still long term end game; like 3 more seasons end game. (not like the 3rd season counted for much anyways) The escalation made sense for Sam first 2 seasons, and Valerie I could see if season 3 hadn't been such a shitshow, and the show had gone on for a fwe more seasons. I personally saw more chemistry between Valerie and tucker desu.

Peppy, Bubbly optimists who try to see the good in things and are willing to show them to others are what work the best with Zuko's Dour misanthropic attitude. Those kinds of characters work as stabilizing influences for him, reminding him that there is good in life, grounding him in reality and preventing him from falling into a self-destructive spiral of edge and angst screaming about "muh honor".
