The prequels fucking suck and are uninspired CGI piles of garbage. Lucas was a maniac who fired anyone who questioned him. If you don't think show then you need to sit down for a few hours and watch these. They changed my entire opinion on Star Wars
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FxKtZmQgxrI
I'm so glad J.J. brought Star Wars back from the brinks (or back from the BINKS XDDD) and made it TRUE star wars again. Too bad Disney took a big shit on it again by doing nothing but fan service for Rouge One : A Star Wars story no one asked for.
>>94058061
Nothing, because I ain't buying his shitty fruit
>>94058106
Probably more fascinated with that than the other announcements.
Reminds me of the Jedi/Sith/Empire books that came out around the time of the buyout.

>>94058222

>>94058250
I'd rather they all dogpile on my Nebulon B-loved than destroy the thread with anti-star wars shitposting, so please, spill your hearts out at how much you hate the Rebel escort frigate that I may take on the burthen of your ire.
>>94058222
Too bad you'll never find it, but if you want a dozen Cassians and Jyns, boy are you in luck!My local target marked down their Black Series to $4 and Cassians still won't move
What video game is this from?
>>94058240
Sort of.
They're adaptions of Canon stuff, but due to the very nature of it being an adaptation, and not the original, it's bound to have slight differences. Stuff could be cut, for example. Or actions tweaked to work better in a still visual medium.
The original source (In this case, the book) is Canon, but the comic will likely follow it faithfully.
>>94058314
Are they really that unpopular?
>>94058240
The thing to keep in mind is this: whenever an adaptation contradicts its source material, the adaptation is in error, not the source material.
>>94058240
>>94058343
Given that its a vastly shortened graphic adaptation of a 400 page novel, it won't be a 1:1 even comparison, but things like character or species or planet or technology appearances will be canon. The events will be abridged but generally canon. If there is ever a conflict, always defer to the original source.
>>94058361
It has less to do with Jyn and Cassian not being popular and more to do with Hasbro doing something incredibly stupid. After shipping tons of cases of Rogue One Black Series stuff for last fall's version of Force Friday, they then started shipping solid cases of Cassians and Jyns. Entire boxes full of nothing but Cassian or nothing but Jyn. As a result both of them became massive peg cloggers and the waves right afterward (which included highly anticipated figures like Old Ben, Revan and Sabine) never made it to a lot of stores.
Hasbro has a history of really bad distribution and they never, ever learn from their mistakes.

>>94058312
that's hideous, no thanks
I'm finally getting around to watching TCW.
Good fucking god Ahsoka is insufferable. How long does it take for her to get better?
>>94058240
They're hit and miss. Obviously some scenes will be different because that's just the nature of an adaptation but extra scenes, details, and character's inner thoughts are canon. In the cases of different scenes, like say the scene in TFA where Kylo talks to Snoke the canon aspect of all those different versions of that scene are 'Kylo spoke to Snoke about how Kylo is the student with the most promise Snoke has ever had, then they talked about how Vader's compassion destroyed the Empire and the stability the Empire brought to the galaxy (Novelization), then they talked about killing Han Solo'. Then for Rey's forceback the canon events are 'Rey saw Luke find out Vader is his father, then she saw a young boy (Novelization), then she saw some temple burning in front of Luke, then she saw the moment her parents left her and promised her they would come back for her in the midst of a battle (Novelization), then she saw the Knights of Ren attack the clan, then she saw her future fight with Kylo Ren on Starkiller Base (Novelization).'

why Lucasfilm refuses to release this is beyond me. They would make so much money from people who bitch about the special edition changes as well as normie middle aged people who would eat it up if it was marketed as the closest thing to watching it in theaters back in 1977.
Plus they could always do a two-disc thing where disc 1 is the original version and disc 2 is the special edition. Or even released separately since they'd make money from people buying both versions.
>>94060585
>>Tarkin
>>Chad war hero
Where did you get that impression? He never struck me as the type, which is why I'm surprised when I read about him piloting a fucking V-Wing.
>>94060665
Because, and this may shock you, but the people who actually give a shit are in the vast minority, as vocal as they may be.
So no, they WOULDN'T make a lot of money from it. Anybody who truly gives enough of a shit has probably downloaded the Despecialized editions anyways.
(On top of that, you have distribution rights scattered around, Lucas not wanting versions beyond his final 2011 release to be sold, the fact that Lucasfilm themselves helped MAKE the Blu Rays and thus sees them as their true versions too, and the debate on whether or not the prints Lucasfilm has are even usable to release/update anymore. Lucas claims not)
Sorry pal, but the Digital release of the 2011 versions should have been the nail in the coffin.

>>94060767
According to a recent-ish interview with someone involved in restoration at Disney(IIRC), the pieces needed to assemble the original cuts all exist and are usable, but there are no plans to assemble them
>>94060839
The guy literally made that shitty image last thread while screaming about Disney ruining Star Wars
>>94060848
Even if they do, its still not going to happen. Gareth and Pablo already said that the 4K versions are being based on the final versions Lucas gave us, just like the digital release was.
People still expecting an unaltered release are in denial.People who think that the changes of the Blu Rays are inherantly bad are also in denial. The vast majority of the changes are great. Just look at the Trench Run, are damn near every change in ESB.
>>94060900
I'm not trying to criticize the Special Editions at all, nor am I saying the unaltered version is better. I'm just saying it doesn't make a lot of sense for them not to release it since a lot of people would buy it, especially people who normally wouldn't buy another re-release of Star Wars.
>>94060219
I think they went with that one because they don't have any full-body promotional images of Cushing in costume
>>94060769
>a pleasant dracula
Was he going to shadow Lee?
>>94061026
>tfw we'll never get comfy Christopher Lee stories
this hurts the most. Lucasfilm could've just told Rinzler to stop at the Disney purchase if they were worried about them looking bad, but the shit from the PT production has no effect on them. Plus none of his blog posts were ever scathing, and even Leeland Chee tweeted at him last week that he loved the blog so far and was looking forward to more.
>>94060769
So, do we actually KNOW that Rinzler's blog getting deleted was Disney's doing?
>>94060940
>I'm just saying it doesn't make a lot of sense for them not to release it since a lot of people would buy it, especially people who normally wouldn't buy another re-release of Star Wars.
Dude, you vastly overestimate how many people would buy it.
A small minority of the fandom wants it and even if some normies would buy it because "more star wars" that ultimately doesn't justify the time and effort and money it would take to recreate unaltered versions.
the ends don't justify the means financially.
the definitive versions are the 2011 BluRay, which like>>94060900 mentioned is what the 4K versions are being based on.
the time and money it would take to reassemble and restore the unaltered cuts just isn't worth it.
>TFA and RO DVDs had no special features
Come the fuck on
>>94061116
It's unconfirmed, but he deleted the blog and then tweeted "Sorry, I'm discontinuing the rise and fall of Star Wars" with no explanation. There aren't too many conclusions to draw.
>>94061166
we get all this stuff online these days
>>94061171
We don't really have to draw conclusions, we could just leave it at that. He backed off, end of story.
>>94061116
It sure looks that way but he hasn't given an official explanation.
>>94061183
>we could just leave it at that

>>94060745
Did you read tarkins book?
>>94061183
he went from posting a fairly lengthy blog post every monday, wednesday, and friday to out of nowhere being like "blogs over bye" and deleting everything. He hasn't tweeted anything since saying it was over, and his previous tweet was him telling someone to look forward to the next post or something like that.
I'm not one of the "DISNEY REEEE" types around here, but you have to admit that it's really fucking suspicious.
>>94061397
It is, but I really don't like to jump to conclusions.
god don't let Rey and Finn be a thing
be seeing s lot of Tumblr fanart come up lately.
>>94061340
Yes, to the end. Admittedly I don't remember much about his youth on Eriadu, but I like to imagine he wore a pith helmet whenever he went out on adventures. He still looked to me like the cold, commanding type he is in the movies.
That, and he flew a fucking V-Wing.
>>94061441
suffer with me
>>94058516
it gets better after the first two seasons but the quality between arcs after that is pretty inconsistent. When its good its really good but there are still some truly terrible arcs even in the final season. The episodes always atleast look pretty though Ahsoka gets better after the outfit change but i didn't really begin to appreciate her until the lost padawan arc at the end of season 3
>>94061582
there is no terrible arc in the final season
>>94060219
>>94059904
I'm guessing this is because they don't have a full body shot of wedge or cushing tarkin?

>They would make so much money from people who bitch about the special edition changes as well as normie middle aged people who would eat it up if it was marketed as the closest thing to watching it in theaters back in 1977.
I think it's been said before that the market for it isn't quite as large as people assume. Most of the mainstream audience either doesn't care about the changes or aren't willing to buy a new set just for the originals. The number of people willing to shell out money for a fully restored but otherwise unaltered trilogy isn't large enough to justify the cost of doing a remastered original cut.
>>94061699
You can say you didn't like that arc but it wasn't terrible. It was an enjoyable misadventure, that's part of star wars anon

I just found out about the new Thrawn comic. I'm so excited
jesus christ some of you guys have problems
Wait a minute how did the Resistance not know about Starkiller Base when they had spies on base? Are we seriously to believe that they saw the destruction of Hosnian Prime then within the hour found out Starkiller's location, established a spy network on the planet, and stole the plans to the entire Base?
Also why did JJ make Finn go 'That's one hell of a pilot!' heavily implying that he knew his friend Poe was in that ship even though he thought Poe was dead and couldn't identify the pilot from the ground? I'm not saying it's a contradiction or anything but it's just weird given that when you see that you're assuming he's astonished at how good of a pilot his friend is even though he thinks his friend is dead.
>>94058106
What is it?
>>94065338
>Finn go 'That's one hell of a pilot!' heavily implying
The line implies Finn is impressed with the skills of a pilot.
You are projecting a connection to Poe.
If Finn had said "There's only one man who can fly that well" that would imply something.

There was a datamine of BF2 on reddit, showed some dialogue lines suggesting Iden and Del defect to the New Republic.
However there's no real context, so many people are assuming it's a subterfuge double agent ploy. Personally I actually like the story of haughty die-hard Hitlerjugend types being humbled and brought low by reality, and, seeing the error of their ways, sincerely trying to repent in whatever fashion they are able. That ties in to the Star Wars series' ideas of forgiveness.

I don't think the issue is with the effects going "too far", but rather that practical creature effects, especually puppets and animatronics, were given singular, specific purposes. The vulture there is pretty endemic of this: it's poking at scrap for five seconds and nothing else. Nothing to suggest it's alive beyond its programming. Ends up feeling fake and "there".
I can't imagine the rage that will come from twitter and tumblr if Reylo becomes canon. It will probably result in a Star Wars boycott.

They didn't have spies, but they send Snap and a few others to scout Starkiller and do a planetary scan that somehow gave them complete schematics. >>94070441
Confirmed. A Jedi who no longer wants to defend the fuck ups of the New Republic (which I now realize was also part of Barriss) and begins to idolize his Sith grandfather so he destroys the Jedi and begins training under a realist dark side user who values balance through naturally powerful beings leading naturally weak beings into progress. He is also fairly compassionate to the extent that he doesn't like causing unnecessary suffering in the cases of him feeling sorry for the villagers he feels he's forced to kill, requesting that a Stormtrooper who was mind tricked not be tortured for information, begging Snoke not to unnecessarily destroy the entire system D'Qar is in since it's occupied by innocent people who probably don't support the Resistance and when he tries to have Rey tell him the map to Skywalker because he doesn't want to have to probe her mind and cause her suffering in the process. He's a guy who thinks he's doing the right thing and often times legitimately cares about people while also being a complete evil asshole.
I unironically believe Kylo Ren is the best written Star Wars character outside of Vader and Saw Gerrera. If you're more interested in his character you owe it to yourself to read the novelization of TFA because it goes into tons of detail about Kylo's struggles with the dark side and how completely different he is from Sidious and Vader while being just as evil as them. The book turns Kylo Ren from an edgy fag in the movie into a 10/10 villain in the book.

i kinda fell off the star wars train when Thrawn came out. I started it, but grew extremely tired of it and didnt get through it. Fuck you and your shit waifu.
>>94076203
It's also a matter of geographical variety within the biome. The only variety on Jakku was the fact that there was ship wreckage on an endless dune sea of Abu Dhabi. Tatooine meanwhile had the dunes of Libya and Yuma, the vast flats and rocky canyons of Tunisia, and the monumental mountains and valleys of Death Valley.
>>94076305
She's not my waifu (though I can definitely fap to her), she's now an infinitely deep and better characterized villain, in fact she's THE villain of the show who will no doubt be defeated by the heroes in their struggle to free Lothal while Thrawn will go on to live and have kino pottery adventures in the future.

Wattoo is a regular small shop jew, the Banking-Clan are the Elite jews in the ivory towers.
I just finished watching all of Rebels after watching eps 1 & 2, then Clone Wars, then 3, one thing that I missed is it seems Ezra doesn't seem tell Kanan and Rex that he met Kenobi, which seems a little odd
Another thing that isn't really explained is Rex, was he with Anakin when he took down the Temple? I guess a lot of my questions are probably answered in some of the comics, I haven't read any of them
>>94077068
No, Anakin gave Ahsoka Rex and half of the 501st for the siege of Mandalore. It was going to be a big arc for TCW, but the series was cancelled before they could produce it.
The Siege was heavily referenced in the Ahsoka novel
>>94076903
It's an enmity that needed no exposition. That he was already leading the Lothal insurgency was all the knowledge anyone needed as to why Pryce would consider him an enemy. A drawn-out backstory just to flush out her character detracted from the point of Thrawn, which was Thrawn. Had it been told from Azadi's POV and not Pryce's, it would have been relevant to the events of Rebels prior to her introduction, in the similar fashion that Zahn's Thrawn trilogy shifted focus between the opposing factions (Thrawn vs the New Republic). There is nothing Pryce's drama did in Thrawn that enhanced or expanded on Thrawn's character or purpose for being sent to Lothal that anyone needed to know beyond what was already presented in Rebels. Zahn pimped a character that didn't need pimping, because her presence as the governor of Lothal was all anyone needed to know about her, and her being it wasn't even a requisite condition for Tarkin to send Thrawn to put an end to the insurgency. It was wasted pages.

>>94077068
Did you not watch season 6 of TCW? It explains how Rex knew the Clones were going to betray the Jedi, and he took action against that.
While Order 66 was happening, Rex was helping Ahsoka escape Mandalore.
Fun fact though, the Clone who was with Anakin on Coruscant during Order 66 was another TCW Clone; Appo, the trooper with the Arrow on his helmet during the Umbara arc.
As for Ezra, I dunno'. I guess it was supposed to be a maturity thing for him, that he acknowledges that Kenobi needed to stay in hiding, and that seeking his help for the Galactic Civil War was a lost cause anyways.
>>94077517
Your post is almost as retarded as his. Thrawn was conceptualized for Canon long before Pryce ever was. Was one of the first things they decided about Canon, in fact. God forbid Zahn liked Pryce enough to want to properly develop her.
And forget this "th-they'll reboot again eventually!" shit too. It implies that Lucasfilm would throw away millions of dollars worth of movies and tv, and also equates the EU to Canon as if that exact same thing happened in 2014, neither of which are true.
>>94077574
I watched it like a month back, I remember fives finding out about the chips and telling Rex but I don't remember him removing the chip or anything to do with the siege of Mandalore
That's neat with Appo, I think I remember him
I was considering the same thing for Ezra, it's a good enough explanation for me
>>94077754
The Seige of Mandalore was going to be the final arc of TCW, but the show was unfortunately cut short.
However the events of it are still treated as Canon. This is alluded to by Rex mentioning the battle. You can also see the scar on Rex's head indicating he had surgery to remove the biochip.
>>94077754
It's not actually in the released episodes but Rex talks about it in Rebels, the only real info on this is the Star Wars Celebration panels where Filoni and crew talk about all the stuff they intended to put in the show but weren't able. There is a canon timeline of events they have and that they reveal bits and pieces of at a time, but we don't get to see much of it, even though it is considered to have "happened" just like the TCW Lost Episodes and such snippets that get released from time to time.

>Broughton, who was bequeathed Cushing’s estate when he died without an heir in 1994, was reticent to go into details about the situation due to a confidentiality agreement she signed with Disney and Lucasfilm. But despite the emotions, she said she was dazzled by the experience of the new film.

Are we gonna get the best romance in season 4?
Any SDCC stuff for SWR?
>>94094795
Nothing Star Wars related has been shown at all beyond Thrawn getting a comic adaptation.
Not sure if we're getting anything today.
>>94094825
There was also a Hasbro panel
>>94094836
Is there anything of worth?
Just looked it up, apparently theres no Lucasfilm/Star Wars panel this year, so no I woudn't expect anything sadly
>>94094787
Yes.

>>94094867
Not a whole lot. A few Black Series figures but mainly TFA stuff (along with TLJ Rey and Luke), the only really good one is Phase 2 Rex. They also showed a render of the vintage collection Aphra due out next year.
>>94094480
I wonder who could be behind this post...

I'm trying to draw this.
So the Rogue One novelization says that General Dodanna was the one that recommended that Saw Gerrerra no longer be associated with the Alliance. Now that Phoenix Squadron is under Dodanna and Saw appears in the trailer this heavily implies that Saw getting kicked out will be an episode in season 4.

It's just called Patrol transport

Have you praised Jedi Jesus today?
Do you guys think they'll show another Rebels trailer or announce the release date for Season 4 at comic-con?
I don't think anyone has posted this yet but were getting a book about Rose.
>>94097846
According to Pablo Rebels has no presence at comic-con.

>>94098344
Kathleen does push an agenda, but it's not the case with this book, if you want to point fingers for agenda pushing you should be pointing at Forces of Destiny
>>94098660
That's a cute argument, except when it's apparent the males are getting left behind while the females are being shoved to the forefront in every medium. The agenda is very real, and you're an idiot if you don't see what's right in front of your face.
>>94096067

Rose is a new character for TLJ so they have to introduce her backstory somehow since we damn well know it won't turn up in the movie itself.
>>94099047
>Kanan
>Ezra
>Finn
>Poe
>Kylo
>Luke
>Thrawn
>Han
Plenty of dicks for me.
>>94099123
Is she important enough that we're going to need to give a shit about her backstory? Because if it turns out we have this whole book of backstory that has no impact whatsoever on TLJ's story or how her character is portrayed, then it's an agenda vehicle being disguised as relevant character information. We went through three movies before we got Leia's and that worked out just fine.
>>94099193
As it looks right now based on the cover art, the book has a dual purpose of explaining who Rose is and why the Resistance suddenly has the bombers in the trailer available to them and Cobalt Squadron to go along with it, with no mention or sight of them in TFA.
>>94099193
>it happened to Leia so it must happen to all other characters the same way
Star Wars storytelling doesn't exist now as it did back in the 80s. Now everything has to be introduced with a solid enough backstory ASAP for people to care about it. Back when SW was just three movies or less, that shit didn't matter.
>>94099260
Sounds intriguing enough. I'm down with it.
Why such a low profile, Why not a top turret?
>>94099352
Because it's not really a tank, despite the name, it's more like an armored and well-armed cargo transport. It's a very confusing vehicle from an armor philosophy standpoint, but Star Wars is notorious for having confusing ground vehicles of dubious efficiency.
>>94099458
>>94099352
>>94099484
Like I said, dubious efficiency. The earliest tanks were really bad at their jobs, so bad in fact that only a handful of perceptive people saw them in action and believed in their future potential when everyone else shelved the tank for 30 years, which is why the early tank designs were discarded in favor of what we ended up seeing in WW2. The TX-225 doesn't have the excuse of being a new design never before tested on the field of battle, it's the product of decades of evolving war material design, so it makes literally no military sense that it appears as it does, doing what it does.
>>94098344
Oh shut the fuck up. There are plenty of books about male characters too. I would say it's an equal amount.
>>94099628
I'm not that guy and I don't agree with his cringeworthy "MUH FORCE IS FEMALE DISNEY SHILLS REEEEE CANT YOU SEE THE PLOT TO DESTROY MALEKIND" but be real here, how many NEW male characters have gotten real attention? There's plenty of attention given to established heroes and there are tons of new girls being invented, but there are not a lot of male role models being pushed right now. Finn is a joke, Poe is hardly a character, Kanan and Ezra are nice but routinely get shown up by Sabine, and Eli Vanto and Thane Kyrell share top billing.
>>94099835
Poe has his own ongoing comic. Just because you dislike it doesn't mean it's non-existent.
>>94099857
I didn't say it was, but Poe isn't even a character let alone the MAIN character of the comic he's in. He's an entirely replaceable and forgettable non-entity who doesn't do anything but look good. If anything that's just as bad as objectification of women - he's a do-nothing Barbie.
>>94095979
I have little reason to believe any straight white male who claims to be a feminist/pro-LGBT/pro-diverity is in it for any reason other than brownie points and fetishism. There's a distressing amount of so-called male feminists/whatever who turned out to be fucking creepers. Devin Faraci turned out to be a literal rapist, Dobson made a shit-load of creepy fetish art and only seems to care about lesbians because they turn him on, and I personally know some male feminists who actually, literally stalk women and get blocked by them.
>>94095979
Thank God he won't be working with SW anymore, the person who thought he would be a good choice for the Aftermath trilogy deserves to be fired, and giving him a short story before he fucks off was way too diplomatic considering the dumpster fire he created
>>94099835
>share top billing
This sounds good though, it sounds like literal equality, with men and women being treated as equals. What's wrong with that?
>>94099835
This is what's going to happen when the ST insists on pushing the old characters over the new. People cried for Luke, so they're getting him. They didn't bother making other male characters outshine him.
I get the impression that Kylo Ren will get a ton of content to himself once his whole backstory is revealed, but he's not exactly a role model. Plus I'd bet money that most of his stuff will be half Luke-focused anyways.
>>94099835
>Finn doesn't count because I don't like him
Don't be a moron. Finn is a very prominent character and is getting even more prominent in TLJ. He's the fucking deuteroagonist based on marketing so far. He drives the entire B plot while it seems like Luke and possibly Kylo are on course to completely overshadow Rey in the A plot.
On that note, Poe's role is also clearly growing. Both he and Finn will be notable over Rose and certainly over Phasma. This whining has no basis and is embarrassing.
>>94100135
It doesn't permit the male heroes to be competent on their own. The heroines like Rey and Jyn get to be I'M STRONG AND I DON'T NEED NO MAN whereas Ezra goes AAAAAAAAAA SABINE HELP. It's a matter of agency. The likes of Eli Vanto and Poe Dameron have none, they're just along for the ride.
I'd love to have some real equality here, but it ain't happening, even the Legacy Heroes like Luke and Han rarely get to be the actuators of the story any more. I'd love to have a story about a new male character to go along with every story of a new female character without the emasculation, however subtle, of the guy.
>>94100277
I thought Cassian was pretty strong.
>>94100277
You're projecting. Be happy that male heroes get to still have flaws and be beloved for them while female heroes are constantly boring as hell. What you're complaining about gives characters actual depth while female characters remain cardboard cutouts.
>>94099260

>>94099260
Actually they're mentioned in the TFA Visual Dictionary and their origins as a Sullustian Rebel group created by Nein Numb are shown in Battlefront: Twilight Company and Uprising. Ello Asty had their symbol on his helmet implying that he was from their Squadron. Also the movie starts seconds after TFA meaning that there's no possible stories in between unless you count the Phasma comic that takes place during Kylo's dual with Finn/Rey.
Stop responding to the baiting idiot, jesus christ
>>94100274
Epic strawman. I like Finn a lot, but he's a joke character. He has 3 minutes of characterization then instantly becomes the bewildered comic relief buffoon second-fiddle to Rey for the entire movie and blunders into a coma that he won't be coming out of til halfway through TLJ.
>>94100298
He is, he's also not a role model by any stretch of the imagination and just barely a protagonist in a movie that has about 15 protagonists.
>>94100308
>You're projecting.
Concession accepted.
>>94100313
>waste our time
It's pretty clear that you won't even bother reading the book, so there's no waste of time in it for you, other than bitching on a Vietnamese Fishing website.
>>94100308
People whine but in the end this exact argument is why I think Kylo will be the only character with staying power out of the ST. I'd make a bet that he's the character considered the "center" of the new trilogy by the end of it and that his story completely outshines Rey's.
Is that really a feminist victory in the end?
I rather see Fleet from clan Wren help the rebelion in ep 7
>>94100369
Cassian is the most prominent hero next to Jyn. He's a notable hero. Also, Finn isn't a joke character but keep ignoring the other parts of my argument about him. If you paid attention, Finn coming out of the coma and jumping into action is probably one of the very first scenes of TLJ. Once again, your bullshit has no basis but your own skewed view.
>>94100369
>a movie that has about 15 protagonist

For real. People here always cry about female characters getting attention whereas I'm just like "sweet, more Star Wars content."
>>94100409
If Cassian is so prominent where's the marketing you say is so all-encompassingly important?
>Also, Finn isn't a joke character but keep ignoring the other parts of my argument about him.
What other parts of the argument? Can you point to one scene in TFA after meeting Rey that Finn proves his worth instead of jobbing?
>If you paid attention, Finn coming out of the coma and jumping into action is probably one of the very first scenes of TLJ.
>Once again, your bullshit has no basis but your own skewed view.
Pot, meet kettle.
>>94100428
And of those, the biggest are Jyn and Krennic, and in fact you could argue Krennic himself is the real villainous protagonist of the Shakespearean Tragedy a la Richard III that is Rogue One. But we aren't talking about repugnant male losers, we're talking about heroes, and the only ones that get to shine nowadays are the classics, not original characters. I'm all for new female characters and their promotion, but I'd like to see a guy around that isn't Homer Simpson.

Panther: not too expensive for mass production, possessed enough firepower to take on any other tank fielded, maneuverable and speedy enough to get where it needed to go. It had its flaws, most of them due to lack of mechanical support remaining by the time of its fielding and its lackluster anti-infantry armament, but it wasn't the egregious material whore Tiger ended up being and wasn't the chumpwagon Panzer IV was. A medium tank that could do the job of a heavy tank; had it been on the production lines even a year earlier, it might have altered the outcome of the eastern front, where Panzer III and IV both failed.
This is a good deal.

It took five Shermans to do what a single Panther could. The Sherman was a solid tank, but not a solid medium tank, and this was evident by the end of the war. It speaks volumes that between 1945 and 1949, the British fielded captured Panthers rather than continue buying Shermans, and the US was already drawing up Sherman's replacement by 1944. Sherman was the tank that was needed in the Now, but it was a placeholder for future designs that would surpass it if the war dragged on longer than a few years after the US got involved; that Germany's economy tanked and its production stalled out due to lack of material was what kept Sherman in the game as long as it was; a Germany that had the means to produce Panther and Tiger in sufficient numbers would have been more than a match for the T-34 and Sherman hordes, it was just their bad luck they put Panther out too late where the Allies could snap their fingers and roll out another dozen Shermans. Ultimately, it was timing and lack of resources that broke Germany, not the design of the Sherman.

>>94101085
>Steela was ok because Lucas did it
>>94101440
It's not a fallacy if everyone after the fact acknowledged exactly that. Notice how every main battle tank since WW2 has followed the German philosophy of tank design, and still do to this day? They had the mojo, just not the means. Contrast that with Japan, who never crawled out of the chump tank phase the entire war and never got to the point where their designs could surpass the Sherman? They absolutely had the designs, they just didn't have the resources to mass produce; their best medium tank only reached prototype stage by the end of the war, and its precursor only had two of its line built and never saw combat. Everyone, literally, believed fully that if Germany had possessed America's production rate and resources, they would have dominated the ground war on both theaters; no one's ever said that about Japan.
I see nothing shameful in admitting that had the eastern front not sucked Germany's resources dry, it might have been a very different war. That it did suck Germany's resources dry was the reason the Sherman mob was able to capitalize on Germany not meeting them in the middle of the hedgerows of France with a wall of Panthers and Tigers.
>>94101750
But anon the Russians had thousands of Shermans via Lend Lease on the Eastern Front and vastly preferred them to T34s
no idea how vatnik tankies liked them in comparison to KVs or ISs though but lets face it those were a fairly negligible impact on the war outside of morale
>>94101650
>50 years
Now who's being fallacious? Shermans stopped being produced in 1946; they'd already long since moved past that. Pershings and Pattons were the new hotness that ran from 1946 to 1993.
>>94101383
>It took five Shermans to do what a single Panther could
This is complete bullshit. Especially Shermans armed with the powerful 76mm cannon and Easy 8s.
>but not a solid medium tank, and this was evident by the end of the war
[citation needed]
Most Western forces were facing Pak cannons and infantry with AT weapons. The germans had no real armor at that point. It was mostly being poured against the Russians. What made the Sherman powerful was its versatility. It had decent armor and could be mounted with far more powerful weaponry.
>It speaks volumes that between 1945 and 1949, the British fielded captured Panthers rather than continue buying Shermans
I'm doubting this claim as the French had the longest service record of the Panther. They claimed it was an unreliable tank with poorly made armor and prone to breaking down.
>Sherman was the tank that was needed in the Now
That was M3 Lee not the M4 Sherman.
>Panther and Tiger in sufficient numbers would have been more than a match for the T-34 and Sherman hordes
This is also a myth. While the Tiger was extremely powerful, past 1944 they weren't that decent as materials made them poorly made.
>Ultimately, it was timing and lack of resources that broke Germany, not the design of the Sherman.
Wrong. The Panther was prone to breaking down and armor was of poor quality. Most recorded losses were due to mechanical damage rather than enemy fire.

Completely incorrect. Unless you think sloped armor is a German design (its not)
>Everyone, literally, believed fully that if Germany had possessed America's production rate and resources, they would have dominated the ground war on both theaters
You're REALLY pushing it now. The only decent German tank was the Tiger I. Many of them were over-designed coffins. Mark I's through III's were garbage against Russian tanks. Let me ask you a question: which tank exploded every time it was hit?Panzer IV.
>>94101934
The Pershing was an improvement over the Sherman in every respect. It just wasn't what the Army wanted out of a new tank, hence the M48/M60 Patton as the follow-up, and the Patton followed the Pershing pattern of build, not the Sherman.
And as for nations that kept their Sherman fleets long after production ceased, those were the nations like the Soviets that just never threw anything away. It wasn't because they were making new ones. But to give you some perspective, the US fielded M60 Pattons as recently as the Gulf War, whereas no one in the Coalition brought any Shermans.

This is one of my favorite scenes from TCW. I'd love actual specifics of blaster cannon penetration values of every piece of Star Wars tech.
When all is said and done, will Rebels be considered better, worse, or equal to TCW?
I feel like it took until TCW ended for people to really come around and start praising it in droves.
>>94102601
my favorite is when the SPHA-T's blow away the Trade Fed Coreship in AOTC, and I don't know if its still canon or not (I hope it is) that when the Venator shoots a big blue laser bolt beam out of its ventral hanger to one-shot a munificent, it's supposed to be a SPHA-T anchored in there for extra firepower on the orders of General Skywalker
>>94102691
I think you'll find that a very polarizing question. Most people appreciate both for different reasons because they're very different shows.
>>94102691
I've always liked Rebels slightly better than TCW, partly because of the artstyle and setting, but I suspect that it won't be as well regarded because it's "baby shit for babies"; edgelords looking to feel mature will hate on it for being a kid's show where the heroes win instead of dying brutally.
>>94102601
I loved this scene but its hard to get accurate representations of vehicle and starship stats from TCW and the movies. They're so varied but its rule of cool not "fictional accuracy". I feel like the encyclopedias and novels get into the realism of star wars fiction
>>94102691
TCW ended up getting a cult following right as it was being cancelled. The marketing push sorrounding Maul, and the 13 Netflix episodes ended up giving TCW an audience of fans that showed up right at the end, saying "Holy shit this show is amazing! Wait, what do you mean it's cancelled?"
Rebels is good, but a lot of TCW's cult following didn't transition to Rebels. And those who did generally prefer TCW still (even if they like Rebels too)
The reduced budget has definitely hurt Rebels.
>>94102691
Rebels is Just spin off of clone wars
>>94102847
There is no "reduced budget." The issue with Rebels is that it actually has a budget, instead of George putting in basically infinite money out of his pocket, so what you should be saying, is that the increased freedom from budgetary constraints benefitted TCW.
>>94102691
I prefer TCW because of it being a war story and loving the clone wars setting but Rebels is just as good really
>>94102847
They did really good re-building their assets, and using a simple, stylized artstyle though.
It's only really jarring if you come straight off of TCW. TCW would introduce huge vibrant worlds every other episodes, with tons of high quality, expendable models that were only briefly used.
Whereas Rebels spent the entire first season stuck on Lothal, and having to re-use assets as much as possible with nothing going to waste. It was either that, or we would have been forced to wait an extra year or two for the show to start, so...
the best tank in star wars
>>94102909
That's not entirely true. While George was notably bumping up how much he was spending to get the crew what they needed, it wasn't infinite.
There were times where so much money was being poured into an episode that they would run out of budget and it wasn't worth asking George for more for some minute detail.
For example, the Mon Calamari arc. Was one of the most expensive arcs ever produced (should be obvious why). Filoni said they were going to have a bubble effect on the lightsabers underwater, but they had to scrap it because shit was already so expensive that they couldn't exactly ask for more money just to add some bubbles.
But for the most part, you are correct. TCW was Lucas's pet project that he poured money into. Rebels, while spiritually a nice successor to TCW, is being funded by a company that does not have sentimental value for the show. As long as Filoni can make it work, they'll give him enough to make it work, and not really a penny more.
Season 1 was probably much cheaper because they were unsure how Rebels would even be. It's true that they picked up the show for it's entirety, but that doesn't mean they have to give it a high budget. Anyways, the show ended up being recieved well, and it got a larger budget each season, which is a good sign.
Hopefully that is also a good sign that they trust Filoni enough to give his next project higher budget than Rebels. Filoni sounds pretty ambitious about it, so all he needs is the money and a good team to execute it.
