It has less to do with Jyn and Cassian not being popular and more to do with Hasbro doing something incredibly stupid. After shipping tons of cases of Rogue One Black Series stuff for last fall's version of Force Friday, they then started shipping solid cases of Cassians and Jyns. Entire boxes full of nothing but Cassian or nothing but Jyn. As a result both of them became massive peg cloggers and the waves right afterward (which included highly anticipated figures like Old Ben, Revan and Sabine) never made it to a lot of stores.

Hasbro has a history of really bad distribution and they never, ever learn from their mistakes.

They're hit and miss. Obviously some scenes will be different because that's just the nature of an adaptation but extra scenes, details, and character's inner thoughts are canon. In the cases of different scenes, like say the scene in TFA where Kylo talks to Snoke the canon aspect of all those different versions of that scene are 'Kylo spoke to Snoke about how Kylo is the student with the most promise Snoke has ever had, then they talked about how Vader's compassion destroyed the Empire and the stability the Empire brought to the galaxy (Novelization), then they talked about killing Han Solo'. I think it's been said before that the market for it isn't quite as large as people assume. Most of the mainstream audience either doesn't care about the changes or aren't willing to buy a new set just for the originals. The number of people willing to shell out money for a fully restored but otherwise unaltered trilogy isn't large enough to justify the cost of doing a remastered original cut.

There was a datamine of BF2 on reddit, showed some dialogue lines suggesting Iden and Del defect to the New Republic.

However there's no real context, so many people are assuming it's a subterfuge double agent ploy. Personally I actually like the story of haughty die-hard Hitlerjugend types being humbled and brought low by reality, and, seeing the error of their ways, sincerely trying to repent in whatever fashion they are able. That ties in to the Star Wars series' ideas of forgiveness.

I don't think the issue is with the effects going "too far", but rather that practical creature effects, especually puppets and animatronics, were given singular, specific purposes. The vulture there is pretty endemic of this: it's poking at scrap for five seconds and nothing else. Nothing to suggest it's alive beyond its programming. Ends up feeling fake and "there".

A Jedi who no longer wants to defend the fuck ups of the New Republic (which I now realize was also part of Barriss) and begins to idolize his Sith grandfather so he destroys the Jedi and begins training under a realist dark side user who values balance through naturally powerful beings leading naturally weak beings into progress. He is also fairly compassionate to the extent that he doesn't like causing unnecessary suffering in the cases of him feeling sorry for the villagers he feels he's forced to kill, requesting that a Stormtrooper who was mind tricked not be tortured for information, begging Snoke not to unnecessarily destroy the entire system D'Qar is in since it's occupied by innocent people who probably don't support the Resistance and when he tries to have Rey tell him the map to Skywalker because he doesn't want to have to probe her mind and cause her suffering in the process. He's a guy who thinks he's doing the right thing and often times legitimately cares about people while also being a complete evil asshole.

I unironically believe Kylo Ren is the best written Star Wars character outside of Vader and Saw Gerrera. If you're more interested in his character you owe it to yourself to read the novelization of TFA because it goes into tons of detail about Kylo's struggles with the dark side and how completely different he is from Sidious and Vader while being just as evil as them. The book turns Kylo Ren from an edgy fag in the movie into a 10/10 villain in the book.

I just finished watching all of Rebels after watching eps 1 & 2, then Clone Wars, then 3, one thing that I missed is it seems Ezra doesn't seem tell Kanan and Rex that he met Kenobi, which seems a little odd

It's an enmity that needed no exposition. That he was already leading the Lothal insurgency was all the knowledge anyone needed as to why Pryce would consider him an enemy. A drawn-out backstory just to flush out her character detracted from the point of Thrawn, which was Thrawn. Had it been told from Azadi's POV and not Pryce's, it would have been relevant to the events of Rebels prior to her introduction, in the similar fashion that Zahn's Thrawn trilogy shifted focus between the opposing factions (Thrawn vs the New Republic). There is nothing Pryce's drama did in Thrawn that enhanced or expanded on Thrawn's character or purpose for being sent to Lothal that anyone needed to know beyond what was already presented in Rebels. Zahn pimped a character that didn't need pimping, because her presence as the governor of Lothal was all anyone needed to know about her, and her being it wasn't even a requisite condition for Tarkin to send Thrawn to put an end to the insurgency. It was wasted pages.

Did you not watch season 6 of TCW? It explains how Rex knew the Clones were going to betray the Jedi, and he took action against that.

While Order 66 was happening, Rex was helping Ahsoka escape Mandalore.

Fun fact though, the Clone who was with Anakin on Coruscant during Order 66 was another TCW Clone; Appo, the trooper with the Arrow on his helmet during the Umbara arc.

As for Ezra, I dunno'. I guess it was supposed to be a maturity thing for him, that he acknowledges that Kenobi needed to stay in hiding, and that seeking his help for the Galactic Civil War was a lost cause anyways.

It's not actually in the released episodes but Rex talks about it in Rebels, the only real info on this is the Star Wars Celebration panels where Filoni and crew talk about all the stuff they intended to put in the show but weren't able. There is a canon timeline of events they have and that they reveal bits and pieces of at a time, but we don't get to see much of it, even though it is considered to have "happened" just like the TCW Lost Episodes and such snippets that get released from time to time.
