Why did Lion King inspire so many furry artists? Moreso than other movies with animals, sans Zootopia?

I never saw stuff like Brother Bear or Kung Fu Panda having the same impact.

Well, it's a very old and very popular movie, so it's had a massive, long-lasting cultural impact. Less obviously, it's rather distinctive among "talking animal" cartoons; it seems like a lot of artists are inspired by it because it's easy to tell when an artist is inspired by it.
