Sure.
I mean ANYTHING could work with a dark and gritty reboot as long as it's done in a quality way and still has broad appeal. It's when you're indulging in the grittiness for the sake of grittiness, that's when you start fucking up.

You can make it robocopish about him struggling to find his humanity inside a mechanical body.
