The trailers have me worried that this season is going to focus on Keith as much as season 2 did. Crossing my fingers it's just cause they mostly showed stuff from the first episode.

I only agree with this if Lance and Keith had a bit of give and take on leadership duties. Keith is impulsive but his take charge attitude is a good thing when it comes to battle. He won't hesitate when action is needed. Lance is good with a plan and shows good tactical sense. I don't think he's be good with total control of the team but Keith should definitely listen to him when he has an idea.

Look, I grew up on the old show.
But if you haven't figured it out, there's a number of changes
One, Galra have already been shown to be a lot less evil in this series. And, based on interviews, Lotor appears to be closer to Zuko, and other classic "son of enemy" characters that ultimately switch sides. He's got an honor code, he doesn't believe in racial superiority, or gender superiority. The fact that he has a cadre of women generals in particular makes him a classic archetype for villain who turns good. Doubling that with the fact that in the original, he was so obsessed with allura that they actually used that on occasion to get him to behave, it seems pretty likely.

Not to mention all of season 2 was basically "galra aren't all bad, mkay?" and now, on top of a rebel faction, we're seeing the new leader gets in and fights with his troops, seems to celebrate their strengths, and Zarkon NOT being dead (meaning he's going to come back and upset Lotor's new balance)

Given the writing on this show, I'll be extremely surprised if he doesn't turn against Zarkon.

Now piloting the black lion? That's ONLY if they start to go down the path of MULTIPLE paladins being related to the first paladins. I'm not sold on that idea just yet.

Look, this show isn't exactly deep or mysterious. If you watched the original Voltron or any science-fiction aimed at teens/young adults at all you can basically predict beat for beat what is going to happen.

People don't watch Voltron because it's cerebral or has hidden meanings.

It got a very positive reception for the most part, some people who went and watched the english version afterwards said they thought the dub was better, although I wonder how much that has to do with the subs being awful, I gave the dub a lot of shit for being too literal when it came out but the subs are even worse about that and apparently just omit small details sometimes, while the dub does a much better job at conveying the jokes and why something was funny and gives the dialogue more flavor (and apparently the americanisms and bizarre wording is a charm point for japanese viewers anyway). It's weird, the dub seems to oscillate between being either too literal or taking too much liberty with the localization, and sometimes it works by making the dialogue funnier but stuff like the way Keith talks to Shiro feels too weird to me, I think they're overestimating how informal their relationship is, since while he definitely looks up to and admires Shiro, he's still the leader while Keith is a subordinate but they have him address Shiro like they're just friendly classmates or something. I've seen some of the japanese fans who watched the show before it got a dub say that they prefer the original voices but a lot of them seem to have gotten used to the dub after they watched enough episodes. Allura's seiyuu seems to get the most praise for her performance, and while most of the dub actors are pretty unknown except for Keith's, I saw someone mention that Lance's seiyuu was Jesse in the jp dub of Breaking Bad which I thought was appropriate. He also dubbed some character in Teen Wolf but I never watched that show so I don't remember the names very well, Styles I think? Might have been different one. Also the subtitles have Hunk use "ore" instead of "boku" so you know for sure they're shit. And before I forget, the seiyuu for Kogane Akira (Keith) in the original GoLion anime tweeted about it and he seemed pretty psyched.

Christ, we really should have gotten the good trailer with the Zarkon flashbacks in it. Instead, we got the shitty one with the shitty music. Hopefully they'll release the actual good one soon, instead of holding it until literally a day before the show drops.
