Reminder this is a CN/TBS collab to make cartoons for Studio T, TBS' new cartoon hub. JG still works at CN it seems.

70% of the crew is old RS crew too. I think CN asked when they canned the series if he wanted to make something to start them off with and he went and did it with his crew.

Also it's not just "his style", they're doing the same RS artstyle on purpose, I don't mean if it has a reason like they're in the same universe, but they purposefully used all the RS guys, it's not just JG being lazy with his designs.

I think they booted RS as a part of their more childish rebrand, like how they're IMMEDIATELY replacing it with a kiddy version named Apple and Onion.

They canned them halfway into Season 8, they didn't even know it was the last season until then, it was just supposed to be a season event that went back to normal in Season 9.

I think after they canned it they were nice enough to either invite him to the new project or he asked and they said yes. Owen Dennis said "If you finished working on RS, you moved to CE"

CN had their shitty motives, if they wanted RS to thrive or something they could have actually shifted it during a season renewal, it happens rarely. They wanted the series ended though, that's for sure.

They both share the exact same upper management and follow the same basic guidelines for broadcasting on their respective networks. The only "restriction" Cartoon Network has is keeping their TV-MA stuff and their more racy TV-14 shows on Adult Swim and Toonami. The latter not being an obligation but a courtesy to parents.

That in mind, "it had to be a collab" is a stupid fucking sentence. Where else was Turner Broadcasting going to take their storyboards for animation? Maybe that's what low standards are, but it sure as hell made me laugh. The other two TBS showed off, the Tarantula and Final Space ones looked excellent too. It's like actual stories and world building being used like Rick and Morty or Bojack Horseman along with the comedy. I'm just excited we're going to get some new and different stuff.

Also, Regular Show was my favorite cartoon this decade, so that really is my sense of humor. I get people on here want something more but sometimes I enjoy a bit of stupid like Aqua Teen or South Park, as long as it's not as stupid as new Simpsons or some Family Guy episodes.

My bet is that Fox was hearing about some of the Gravity Falls drama while they were gearing up a new wave of adult cartoons (see: Solar Opposites). They basically slipped Hirsh a slip, and he jumped on the opportunity to work on something that isn't run by The Mouse, which may also be why he axed Gravity Falls so abruptly.

That was the end of it. I think Szeles ended on a cliffhanger because he had bigger plans to expand the idea into a full series if CN were willing, but the miniseries did so poorly and was embarrassingly shoved under the rug when it started being promoted a week before its premiere.

Let me explain this to you.

CN is trying to rebrand itself for a younger audience, they do things like this every so years.

They did it with the Era of Adventure Time/Regular Show, when they rebranded themselves to an older audience and went for the "indie animation hipster" style. The new management decided to cut ties with the previous branding and shows, and axed them to make the network focus more on little kids. Hell, Aple and Onion is exactly Regular Show for an younger audience.

In some years it will change to another thing if they still exist.
