To be fair, Jake Long is an American, and in the United States it's far more common to see WM/AF then to see AM/WF. I've met couples from both variations, but the former is much more common than the latter.

In fact there are a lot of examples people overlook like Mandy's mom is northern European and her dad is clearly southern European, what race exactly there's no way of knowing since it's just a cartoon but you can clearly see the base of their heritage through their character designs.
Dexter's Father is Northern or eastern European and his mother is Irish.
