Carebears Christmas special, an evil wizard turns the carebears into wood and is gonna burn them in a fire. The dragon villain from one of the original mlp movies turns the protags into evil dragons when captured, but it wasn't as terrifying as threatening to literally fucking incinerate a cuddly cartoon character.

The scene in the basement in the little toaster. Fuck that radiator or whatever.

Wolves snapping at belle in beauty and the beast, then the beast going haywire on them, snarling and shit

Also Felix the Car just had weird trippy shit in general. I'd probably love it now but the sheer mindfuck blew my mind as a kid.

Most things scared me when I was a tiny child.

>>
>>94016928
That entire series in general was pretty fucking creepy. It was basically a horror series half the time.
>>
>>94013668
Return the slab? Probably return the slab, atleast for me.
And some context
I was a russian-speaking kid, didn't know english at all
And while we had russian TV, for some Cartoon Network was in english. It was literally the only channel in english, the rest were russian.
So never understood what anybody said in CN cartoons, and yet I loved watching them.
Just imagine watching Powerpuff Girls, Dexters Laboratory, Courage, KND and other CN classic... and not understanding a word of it. Just purely enjoing the visuals.

So yeah... The "return the slab" epsiode was probably even more unnerving for me than for englkish-speaking kids. I literally didn't even any context for that guy.

Also I'm pretty sure I somehow didn't see the "You're not perfect" episode. Or atleast don't remember it.
>>
>>94013668

You're going to have to be more specific because Courage the Cowardly Dog has a LOT of scenes that are downright horrifying.

I don't want to look it up, but the scene when the police find Peter's battered body and fucked up face after his battle with Morlun was really unnerving. Especially with the relatively cartoony art following the fight.

>The mouse and his child are two parts of a single small wind-up toy, which must be wound by a key in the father's back. After being unpacked, they discover themselves in a toy shop where they befriend a toy elephant and toy seal. The child mouse proposes staying at the shop to form a family, which the other toys ridicule.

>They accidentally fall out of a window and land in the trash. Once transported to the dump, they become enslaved by Manny the rat, who runs a casino and uses broken wind-up toys as his slave labor force. With the aid of a psychic frog, the mice escape and meet other animal characters on a quest of becoming free and independent self-winding toys.

>They rediscover the elephant and seal, who are somewhat broken down. Together they manage to form a family and destroy the rat empire.

this is some Gianni Rodari shit right here...

Isn't it "Pooh's Grand Adventure"?

I haven't seen it in a while, but I feel like it was a pretty good movie, very pretty and with a nice sense of scale to the plot and storytelling, and lots of compelling individual scenes.

Plus, the twist at the end--the one that directly connects back to OPs scene--as I think back on it, it was pretty well executed.

I guess that's just 90s Disney quality for you though.

This whole fucking episode.

Old woman is the ex-fiance of Primus, Wren's father (not a transformer). She rescues (captures) their ship and asks (coerces) them into getting her a sample of dark water for her alchemy experiments.

So, using dark water, she creates a youth potion. Then she basically tries to rape Wren, holds Tula hostage, and forces Wren to marry her. They actually go through with the wedding until she just starts fucking MELTING. She ends up dying as a sobbing insane lovesick mess.

Can't remember exactly the number (it was pretty early in the series), but it was one where grim takes billy, mandy and irwin to visit the gallery of time, where everyone's life hourglasses remain.

Flipping one upside down means the person will slowly de-age until unexistance, breaking or shaking will wildly alter the age of the person at random.

Irwing indirectly murdering his older brother was creepy as hell too. Especially when you realize he never shows up again. Then again everyone else comes back after that episode.

Here's what doesn't come through in the vid, though. The bit where she's cornered, before she falls over? That was the To Be Continued point. On Christmas Eve, they leave little kids with the image of a hell-beast about to devour Alice (and leaving the possibility open her family had already been eaten) and said 'to all a good night'. It's pretty in line with the book, and the book's nonfiction predecessor, The Private Life of the Rabbit. It's partly about how fucking intense the life of wild animals really is. Literally every day is a battle for survival, and this illustrates that. Bambi's kind of comparable, but Watership Down just takes it a little further. The dog carnage scene isn't even the most fucked up part, imo.

I kind of got annoyed when I watched this movie with some friends recently, and they very confidently scoffed at the artists that drew this design because "I guess people back then just didn't realize that whales have baleen and not teeth," and I had to fucking explain to them what a sperm whale was. I don't think it would've bothered me as much as it did if we didn't live in a state with a history partly built around whaling and have multiple whaling museums nearby that they could've gone to learn about sperm whales from if the concept didn't offend their vegan sensibilities so much.

Know its /a/, but saw the dubbed version as a kid back in the late 80's/early 90's. Unico.

First, Kuruku the wizard, his origin story.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5i5JxOpYnc4&feature=youtu.be&t=3827

For his revenge, he turns humans into living statues, then uses them to build his castle. When you see how big the castle is, he must have already used his magic to change entire countries of people.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5i5JxOpYnc4&feature=youtu.be&t=1767

And heres a fun one! Green skinned vampire dude hypnotises the young girl (who used to be a cat) to get her to his castle, roofied her, and was getting ready to eat her. And after Unico makes him fall to his death by being impaled, he returns as a giant skull faced demon that breathes bats and fire. Fun for the whole family.

IIRC, it's the start of what would eventually culminate in Bob getting fired into the Web. Or Net, or whatever they called it.

That thing takes over Hexadecimal, she goes on a rampage, then it gets transferred to Megabyte somehow, then he catches up with Hex and they merge into Gigabyte, and whatever Bob does to separate Gigabyte splits him into three (Mega, Hex and that spider thing), firing them into random directions. The spider thing ends up capturing a bunch of people and draining their energy. A parody of Mulder and Scully help Bob track it down and take it out with lights, but somehow it ends up creating a portal to the Web and that kicks off those episodes where the all of Mainframe is fighting off monsters from that web portal in the sky. Then Megabyte launches Bob into the portal just before they close it.

Those are what I can pull together of my memories from like twenty years ago.

this is the best one in the thread I think cause it's both objectively horrifying and definitely meant for children entertainment. No one involved in drawing this was trying to make it impressively dark and twisted for adults that might be watching, they just randomly created a super super dark and horrifying attempted murder scene from the POV of the victim for very small children.

I'm not entirely convinced this story really is for children. Maybe whoever decided to make the movie thought it should be, but the general concepts from the book are kind of abstract.

Looking up pictures of all three side by side, I can kinda see what you mean, but I still think he leans more towards sperm whale. I'm now wondering though if maybe they meshed together traits from different whales to get to his design, though.

I do have to admit that at the end of the day, he's a fantasy creature that can fit a ship with a man living inside it in his stomach, so it's not like he needs to be perfectly accurate.

Funny thing I heard about that not long ago. It seems that when people say to face your fears to overcome them, as in, say, the case of someone who has suffered a trauma, the really important part that's more important than the exposure itself is the fact that the trauma sufferer needs to feel a significant degree of control during the repeated exposure. Otherwise the exposure only repeats and furthers the trauma.

So I guess in your case you're just going to have to go kill a whale.

After my irresponsible parents let me watch Arachnophobia at an age where I couldn't even shit in the toilet unsupervised, I had so many nightmares about Webster. I'd wake up screaming, dreaming about hundreds of Websters crawling through the hallway (floor, walls and ceiling) to come trample me to death in bed.

Then of course there's the raptors in the kitchen from Jurassic Park. I was too afraid to cross the hallway to the bathroom thinking they would somehow be at the other end of the hall waiting for me.

Of course, anything Gmork used to terrify me, and to this day I still have a fear of eyes and teeth in the dark.

Either I dreamed this one, but Gumby or the Funny movie had this scene where the red square bad guys just fell into an area??? and just died. Like, as soon as they touched that particular floor, they dropped. Or maybe they fell. It's such a surreal memory but I remember being really terrified

Also Goblin related, I see this scene being mocked around the internet sometimes for being hammy, but it freaked me out when I was a kid, there's something about how imposing the Goblin looks, telling a terrified old lady to finish her prayer when she doesn't know if she'll live or die and the desperation on Aunt May's voice that just makes it seem like the purest of evils.

Maybe it's because Aunt May reminds me so much of my grandma.
