Jokes aside, he is just a character who has way more important shit going on in his life than wanting to stick his dick somewhere, (the Jin episode particularly is to show how despite being shown happier than he has ever been in the show he still chooses to obsess over his past, his honor and his mission to capture the avatar) which makes it the more jarring that they wasted half of S3 giving him a boring romance that added nothing to his character other than giving him a love interest.

It's even more jarring when you consider it was with the character that had the most boring Character interactions with anyone. Seriously, I am actually confused why he was in a relationship with Mai rather than Ty Lee, not even shipping wise, just regular Confusion. Mai had all the personality of a brick, and her "mask" of Apathy was indistinguishable from actual apathy. She seemed to least likely to want anything to do with the emotional train wreck that is Zuko.

This. A Big part of Zuko's whole Schtick is that keeps his inner turmoil bottled up, pushing people away from him, until it starts spilling out and overflowing. What he needs is someone who can see through that aloof misanthropic jerk Facade and would go the extra mile to reach him; The kind of person with a shield of Bright Optimism and Peppy happiness, who goes through the effort to see the good in life's things, especially people, and who wants to bring it out.

Mai is none of these things. She's apathetic, morose, and trapped in an emotional bubble of her own. It's why their scenes felt like they were just two people being alone in close proximity in stead of actually being together.

Also Sokka being terrified of Mai's stoic attempts at flirting is hilarious.

How I feel about Korra

Book 1: Good but has serious flaws that I'm sure you are all already aware of. 7/10

Book 2: The first half is fucking awful. They realized they had already finished Korra's character arc in Book 1 so they had to restart her from zero which made her very annoying. The way she casually wanted to start a war like it was nothing pissed me off. It doesn't get better until the Wan story which is absolutely amazing the second half after that is better than the first half but is still pretty bad. 5/10

Book 3: Amazing. Great villains, animation, music, voice acting, tons of inventive bending, and they really fixed all the problems the characters had in the first two books. 10/10

Book 4: Good but has tons of missed potential. It should have been about the Red Lotus again since the end of Book 3 seemed to be setting up all out war with the Red Lotus. I also wanted to see the Fire Nation. I liked Korrasami but I still think it was a mistake because it did nothing but damage and divide the fanbase even further than it already was. 8/10

The biggest problem the series had is that Bryke didn't adapt to the change in episode count and pacing. They should have keep the cast small so they could give focus on all of them with the limited episodes they had.

Also I'm not touching this comic with a ten foot pool. The only thing that I'm partially interested in is future ATLA comics or they do something about the fact that they never finished the Red Lotus plotline. Other than those two things I'm done with the franchise.

Season 2 of LoK was some of the worst shit I've watched recently. I marathoned all of TLA a few weeks ago, and a friend said I would enjoy Korra but not as much. I'm actually thinking about it now. It really does make perfect sense, doesn't it? Whether she likes it or not, Toph is a Bei Fong, the heir to the wealthiest family in the Earth Kingdom. Surely they've got a fair amount of political influence and importance. She's already on good terms with Zuko, so the odds of her clashing with him in a way that starts another war are low.

The really and truly most logical woman would be some daughter of one of the regional kings, but in truth Toph's not all that far removed as a good choice.
