is there more?

not if it's a straight adaptation of the adventuring antics

i'd rather see a comic about how it must feel to be the person who is trying to decide how to exploit these adventurers and how far they're willing to push them, and how good care theyre willing to take of them

After all that fighting and death, he realizes just how pointless his victory was. Some of his affliction quotes show that he carries guilt for his fallen comrades.

Not everyone has a tragic backstory, the crusader for example didn't.
The point is everyone in game is a broken human being, whether it be from tragedy taking everything from them or them simply abandoning their decency and humanity to become single minded criminals and monsters.

>tfw you've had the game for months and still haven't finished
>tfw you pretty much lost all desire to keep going after you did a few veteran bosses
I want to love the game more, by all accounts I should absolutely love it, but it's just so... Monotone.
Early game where shit is still a threat is great, struggling with the bosses you've never fought before is great, finally gitting gud to the point where a collector encounter goes from "oh shit oh shit oh shit" to "sweet, free heals and loot" is fun; but after that initial git gud stage the game just kinda died for me.
None of the dungeons feel threatening anymore, bosses go down super easy since you know how to build a good team comp, trinkets are OP, and since veteran dungeons are the exact same enemies and bosses with higher health pools and one or two new mobs it just feels like you're just stuck in a mid-point, never working towards anything.

Fuck, how do I love the game more? I absolutely adore the aesthetic and Plague Doctor is best waifu.

that used to be my complaint (veteran+champion dungeons feel too much like scaled-up apprentice dungeons) but there now veteran and champion-exclusive enemies that push your shit in if you don't adequately prepare for them, as well as champion-level event bosses prior to darkest dungeon proper

not to mention bosses in champion are scaled with the knowledge that you're prepared for their gimmick so you might still lose somebody

>>
>>94007651

Well the only niggers in Europe close to the historical timeline of Darkest Dungeon would be moors in Spain and in 1400-1500's they were gradually expelled by the christians. Not just expelled arabs and niggers, jews were also expelled.
>>
>>94003687
Yeah, but we would have to find a good writter to use the lore to its fullest at a satisfying way, otherwise it would be underwhelming and it would be a shame.
>>
>>94007651
Maybe just criminals and shit or a small warband pillaging.
>>
>>94007867

Hag and Brigand mercenaries weren't exactly angels either. Arguably the same thing with the smuggler crew (because they extorted Ancestor) and necromancers (because dark arts).

Ancestor is the biggest asshole of them all though, easily.
>>
>>94008307
>implying there weren't traders and sailors in major ports and trade centers in Europe
>>
>>94008005

Actually its worse than that. Ancestor was basically like Marquis de Sade, who was bored from endless feasts and orgies to a point he started seeking other highs. He tried to murder the Countess before he even knew she was a monster, and his court had people like a midget who tortured and humiliated servants and a viscount who decided it would a cool idea to eat rotting food.

So hey lets carve up an eldritch vampire and drink her blood just for fun, what could go wrong?
>>
>>94008374

They generally didn't settle down and live in houses in ports and trade centers. An actual nigger population in Europe at that time was the moors.
>>
>>94008005
>>94008401
Also does that mean the countess was aware of the darkest dungeon before the ancestor. because the flavor text describes that she had sampled the very blood of the planets core, turning her into the eldritch beast she is.
>>
>>94008307
And what stopped a black family of moors who converted to just move in?
Its not like people were OBSESSIVE about race like everyone was thanks to the cheap slave trade from africa.
>>
>>94003849
I don't get it. are the celebrating him? are they casting him out? is he leaving of his own choice?
>>
>>94008491
Some of the fluff blurbs seem to hint that he's royalty of sorts, which is why he's so well spoken and such. They're praising him because he's going on a holy crusade. He's inspired from the leper king.
>>
>>94008431

That event with the Countess was the first time Ancestor became aware of the Darkest Dungeon so yes she was basically what started it all.

>>94008456

>And what stopped a black family of moors who converted to just move in?

Well the comic explains it pretty well. You were considered a lawless pariah if the society shunned you. An angry mob or just common bandits could raid your home, kill everyone and get back home guilt-free.

It was a time where catholics and protestants were already killing each other for minor excuses, what do you think would happen to a muslim nigger minority in between all of that?
>>
>>94004893
>Steady, girl. If we're called, we answer.

;_;
>>
>>94008558
But they're not muslim, I told you that.
Its not like the catholic church WASN'T converting people in the middle east even back then, its just that islam was so effective on anger inducing, hot sandy shitholes.

A pilgrimage later and suddenly you have a couple of blacks in rome, oh the tragedy.
>>
>>94008491
Going by the crown, I assume he was a royal that self-exiled after getting leprosy. The celebration and crying make it seem like he was loved by his people.
>>
>>94008590

>But they're not muslim, I told you that.

But they look like muslim and they have dark skin which is usually enough for a medieval town to consider you an outsider and not worthy of joining their community. Europe wasn't a very tolerant place even after Renaissance. Mind you arabs weren't much better but cities and countries more tolerant of weird minorities were usually those close to the Silk Road route.

Medieval societies had the bad habit of only barely tolerating minority groups in cities and they could flare off and kill them off at any time from any minor reason. This was usual even in more tolerant cities, when Ottoman Turks were sieging Constantinople in 1453, the city's defences were already crippled because Venetians and Genoese were busy killing each other within the walls. People back then already killed their neighbours so foreigners were not in any better state.

Then count in the fact as a foreigner you had very limited ways to live in Europe. You had to be a merchant or artesan of some kind because you had no business in the fields thanks to serfdom. And pretty much all merchants and artesans had their homes back in their home countries where they learned the craft in the first place.

You can come up a reason why a family of niggers can exist in Europe but it is incredibly rare, one of the reasons being what happens in the comic. And this isn't just a case of "evil white people" but the fact medieval times sucked for everyone. White people had to be careful even as merchants in countries ruled by arabs too.
>>
>>94008412
I'll grant you that any considerable population comparable to the local population was nigh impossible is but a negilable amount would have existed in certain areas in Europe

>moors
>niggers

Pick one the moors were of North African extract and thus closer to actual Spanish inclination of pigment rather than the black skin pigment you are claiming
>>
>>94004893

>>
>>94008491

>>
>>94008693
Whe does DD even take place. It looks like some weird mix of different periods with a crusader in full plate while the highwayman looks like he's around the french revolution.
>>
>>94008884

>Pick one the moors were of North African extract and thus closer to actual Spanish inclination of pigment rather than the black skin pigment you are claiming

spanish lands owned by moors were a clusterfuck of different communities, not just moors themselves. Thats why actually sizable nigger communities could exist there (because they did).

It's not that Crusader is traumatized by war; in fact, I see it as rather the opposite.

He's become so obsessed with fighting for God and Deus Vulting that he's nearly forgotten all ability to love and care for what God blessed him with, i.e. his family.

I saw an interesting theory that the estate was removed from normal restraints of time and was some kind of pocket dimension because of all the eldritch fuckery that occurs. For example, black powder weapons, flintlocks, crusaders, and arbalests all running around together is a crazy range of technology.

Actually he used pigs first because he was still new at summoning demons. So he could afford to fail hundreds of times when using pigs, better use cheap material first when you're still learning all the shit.

All the pigmen are basically his failures, Flesh boss in particular. Swine God is almost a success.

I'll try to force myself through to beating the game after I finish Hollow Knight, but damn man even the handful of new enemies doesn't really change things up enough to feel like you're not just stuck at an eternal midpoint.

Hows Crimson Court by the way? Does it change up the game enough to make if feel like you're actually progressing?
>>
>>94017156
If you like feeling like everything is spiraling into a shit storm of inescapable death, then yeah. After you do the first quest, which is available almost right away, the entire game gets put on a timer. You HAVE to do the CC quests, of which there are like 4, at fairly regular intervals or the infestation (which is where CC enemies replace normal enemies in dungeons) becomes overwhelming. Finishing a quest resets everything, clears infestations and cures all your vampiric characters. But then it ramps up again until its unmanageable.

The main issue is that the CC is pretty much end game, even the earlier quests. The later ones are DD level. So if you initiate everything early on, which you will because you won't know any better, it becomes INCREDIBLY brutal.

Though the other additions are fun. The Flaggelant is ridiculous and the district system is cool, though grindy.

Pretty sure the stature is just to emphasize that they're bosses. I mean, take a look at the Prophet. Nothing of his lore points to him mutating to grow into his size nor does it say anything of him being a giant, yet he towers over all your characters.
