That doesn't seem like too many. There's probably been like 1000 Peter solo issues across every ongoing, ancillary characters expand that maybe to 1500? And it would include every named character even as small as a secretary used only once as well as alternate versions.

My bet it's that once Homecoming 2 releases in 2019 and the Marvel deal is over, they won't reboot and they'll introduce Tom Holland's Spidey to their Verse and they'll pretend it's still part of the MCU but they won't have direct characters or references.

Maybe Tom Holland will show up somehow as cameos their movies, they just have to cast him as "Peter" or something, maybe even as Spider-man since they still fully own the movie rights of the character, unless there is something in their Marvel deal that prevents them from using Spider-man until the deal is done, we don't don't the detail of that deal so we can only speculate

Homecoming will end its run with less than 680 million dollars. Is that a success? Somehow it isnt for anyone other than projects connected to Marvel Studios, such as this sony deal.. Well they are already making a big deal of hot and hip Aunt May and how all the men want to fug her.

Ben is also non existent in Homecoming and probably cucked out from the Spider-Man mythos because Peter is most likely May and Richard's son like in Trouble.

You know, I think it'd be kind of interesting as long as Sony did it right. I dunno if I can have any faith in that, but imagine if they did. I don't know about a Kraven movie, but a Silver Sable movie? A Black Cat movie? There are some possibilities. If you develop the characters in their own movies and then have them encounter Peter later, it could allow for plenty of story opportunities.

But that's only if they could do it right. Maybe if they took advice from Marvel, but I doubt they'd do that. They already took a heavy blow to their pride by letting Marvel take care of the Spider-Man movies.

Do you people NOT understand that Holland is UNDER CONTRACT to SONY. They control his use in the MCU. He's confirmed for a Homecoming sequel similar to the deal that caused this one, and three Marvel Studio's 'loan-outs' or guest appearances: Civil War being #1 and Infinity Wars #1 and presumably IW #2 being the third.

After that, Sony can tell Disney to fuck themselves. And make Holland guest star in every single crappy Paste Pot Pete and Stilt-Man movie they want to release.

The can call up Fox and release Johnny Storm and Peter Parker rom-coms. They can do whatever the FUCK THEY WANT.

Amy Pascal of Sony said a few weeks ago that Spider-man could possibly show up in the Venom film - and then a few days later both she and Feige issued statements clarifying that there was no possibility whatsoever of that happening. I think we can assume from that episode that the terms of the Marvel deal means that Spider-man can't turn up in Sony's spin-off films for the time being.

Once the deal ends though, it's difficult to see how Marvel could stop Sony dropping Tom Holland's Peter Parker into whatever shared universe they've managed to create in the meantime. But as you say, we don't know what the details of the Marvel/Sony deal are - maybe Marvel has tried to put in some provision against this. Can't imagine how they'd enforce it.
