What are some of the best non Disney animated movies? I feel like people only know about the Disney ones.

All of Laika Studios movies.

Land before time.
Iron Giant
Anastasia
Fern Gully is a shitty environmental movie, but it's enjoyable for it's cheese, Robin Williams doing a crackhead impersonation, and Tim Curry Singing
I loved Shrek so much, I had all the merchandise and movies
the prince of egypt

Anastasia
has a pretty awesome villain song
how has no one brought up Road to El Dorado yet?
>>93996103
>Strange Magic
Best? Not really... More like strangely addicting.

Song of the Sea was better than Kells in my opinion
Kung Fu Panda 1,2 & 3

Strange Magic is a Touchstone film, which is owned by Disney.
Also, Lucasfilm produced that movie under Disney, it was their first film under Disney, even predating The Force Awakens.
Also, how about foreign animated films? I thought that Leap! aka. Ballerina movie was actually kind of decent.
>inb4 anything by Studio Ghibli
Their films are technically Disney films since Disney localized their films.

From these my personal favorite is Somg of the Sea. That one made me tear up.
Then there's Ernest and Celestine, It's Such a Beautiful Day, Leafy, a Hen Into the Wild and Mary and Max for starters. Long Way North was pretty cool but I kinda missed a part of it due to a phone call. Should rewatch that one again.

Oh and April and the Extraordinary World too.
The Lego Movie caught me by surprise, really loved it. Everything by Sylvain Chomet is gold as well, his Simpsons couch gag was amazing.

That one was just okay to me. Interesting setting though.

Localizing and distribution doesn't make Spirited Away a Disney movie, don't be dumb. Disney Animation Studios didn't lay a finger on any of those films. I don't even think Disney does Ghibli distribution anymore, it's Gkids' court.

>foreign
Metegol/Underdogs, by Juan José Campanella, is pretty good (Argentina)
Anina (Colombia/Uruguay)
Chico & Rita and Arrugas (Spain)
31 Minutos, both the series and the film (Chile)
Also anything by Satoshi Kon

I don't know if I'd call it a great movie, but The Boy and the World has that magic I love when it comes to animation. Maybe if I was Brazilian I'd understand the political context more.

Rango. That movie deserved the Oscar it won.
