So basically in the DCU, Earth is actually one of the oldest planets in the Universe, and the place were life first appeared in all of existence. But the Guardians of the Universe decided this needed to be kept secret, so they somehow manged to alter all the scientific evidence to make it look like Earth was much younger than it is.

Also keep in mind that according to Green Lantern lore, the ENTIRE UNIVERSE has been divided up into 3600 sectors, and those sectors are apparently small enough that they can be watched over by one or two individuals.

This was written in the 1950s, but it's still treated as canon now, even though with what we currently know about the size of the Universe, that means each sector would have to encompass millions of galaxies. Not star systems, galaxies.
