Someone always posts these really sexy covers from Mexican comics. Can someone explain why they have so much fan service and how I can get a hold of them in America?
>>
south of the border, all that puritan shit goes right out the window

>Can someone explain why they have so much fan service
Mexico is way more willing to objectify women than the USA or Canada.
>>
Fan service? They're straight up porn.
>>
>>93979859
Just for reference, is that an exaggeration..?
>>
>>93979784

Well, I really appreciate the THICC appreciation in the art. At first, I thought it was a specific series but if I google Mexican comics, theres a ton that all follow this cheesecakey art style. I'm interested in knowing how the trend started and what titles are popular so I can get them.

Anyone know what the interiors are like?
>>
>>93979887

It's porn. There's no way to sugar coat it.

They can't ALL be porn can they? I'm just talking about these comics in general, with these sexy-ish painterly covers. This one is probably porn but don't they cover more genres? Either way, I want to know more about them and get into some.

Also, they look like they are done by different artists that use the same technique. There can't be just one BASED mexican artist can there?
>>
>>93979751
J. Jonah Jameson?
>>
>>93980014
>They can't ALL be porn can they?

All of them are porn, son. No exceptions. And the covers are literal best part of these comics, although the art inside is not THAT bad.

Also, the artists are never credited.

not all of it some of it is soft core and some stories have suggestive covers and inside are basically just regular cowboy stories or funny/tongue and cheek sexy comedies, with no actual sex. mostly just titties.

some of it is yeah a lot of sex.
>>
>>93980293

>Are they usually black and white like manga?
Yeah. Sometimes they use a weird reddish ink instead of black. But, as other anons have said, the quality of the actual art of the comic is way below the cover art.

the proper term for these little comics are "historietas". You can order used comics on ebay very inexpensively. Whats cool is most of the comics are full color on the interiors- you get more bang for your buck at 70 small pages- compared to like 12-20 pages inone dc marvel issue. My favorite interior artist is "norman klimt". The most prolific cover artist is "Oscar Baldazua"- he literally does most of the covers. They do n fact at least have names on the first page, unlike manga where assistants get compelely no credit.
>>
>>93980547
>ordering used porn from mexico

What if I don't want hepatitis?
>>
>>93980547
Also, a lot of the interior art is not really pornographic per se. they have a few nude scenes, but it really depends on the series -the extent to which how much porn is in an issue.

Not all of them, there are a lot of those with just seggestive situations or even skips the sex parts, brands with sexual innuendo usually are porn (like "Cachondas" which could be translated as "Horny Women"), I know that some years ago some of those comics were scanned on and uploaded to some forums site in spanish (was long ago given that I think they even used Rapidshare and Megaupload) but now that site is not even indexed on google I think, the name of the site is (used to be?) ba-k.
>>93980014
>Also, they look like they are done by different artists that use the same technique. There can't be just one BASED mexican artist can there?
I know that one of those artist was working for DC not too long ago, he did some work on Green Lantern, I don't know what is he doing right now, the name is Oscar Bazaldua, pic related I think is one of his covers but I'm not totally sure.

There's a film genre that's popular in Mexico called "Sexi comedias" or Sexy Comedies and it was popular.

The guy in the image was THE go to actor for sexy comedy films and this was on public television usually Univision or telemundo in the 90s when I was a kid.

It would play on the TV and usually Hispanic families wouldn't bat an eye to that stuff.
>>
>>93980892
Really good cheesecake artists tend to be hired, I know the guy who draws Green arrow rebirth used to be a futa artist.

D.C. Has been hiring fetish artists lately and I will admit it's one of the lures that brings me in.

I heard a rumor that incase was in talks but those are just that rumors...
>>
>>93981395
Such a shame that genre has been disowned by the industry here on México, cinema nowadays around is too SJW and to do a movie like this could be unthinkable for the politically correct actors, directors, producers, etc.
>>
>>93981659

Sjw impacting mexico.

The world really is doomed.
>>
>>93981732
Most of the people in the film and tv industries come from rich houses (or at least middle high class families) so in turn the his whole life have been more exposed to many global external influences (but mainly from USA) so in consequence they tend a lot to try to emulate what they see on those other countries.
Sadly nowadays, I think mainly thanks to the internet, the influence of this SJW people is greater than ever so almost every one of the college student is a SJW here, at least here in the central part of the country, probably that is one of the reasons why is actually rare and not common at all to see someone buying in broad daylight one of these comics of the kind of the "Libro Vaquero" as used to be, now is probably so much normal to see a teenager with a "Hentai Magazine" than with any kind of "mexican porn" material.

eg.: what does this one say -
>>93980936
>>
>>93982111
The title is something like:
"Beautiful at night
Affectionate and seductive"
Then the guy is asking: "I fill you the Tamalito?"
She answers: "...with banana leaves"
this is a too local and dull joke.
And in the inferior part it says something like:
"Plenty of CREAM for the Tamal of the RAT"
I'm not really sure about the correct translation of "Nata" maybe "custard" could be more apropiate than "cream", anyway this another local, dull joke because "NATA" rimes with "RATA", also in this kind of books the "albur" (double meaning words) is very used so probably it could be really hard to translate into other languages (probably it could be hard to understand even for other latin american people).
BTW on the side it says basically "18 or older", although usually for the guy on the stands it doesn't matter if you are 18 or not if you have the money.

To be fair, I remember these type of magazines being way older than me. Back in the 80s you could see similar books but with much less sex and a bigger focus on drama (lagrimas y risas), western (Sensacional de Vaqueros), Lucha Libre (Luchadores, these were extremely goofy, but fun nonetheless) and even japanese shit (John Barry, story about a japanese daimyo getting cucked by a green eyed blonde caucasian samurai).
If I remember, even the japanese stuff was popular for a bit, way before the anime craze in the 90s, there was even a telenovela about Japan (El pecado de Oyuki)
>>

Sexy comedies became a thing because the censorship ended and movies could be vulgar now. It was a reaction for years of repression. Nowadays there's internet and all that stuff that make sexy comedies to look tame.

>Sexy comedies became a thing because the censorship ended and movies could be vulgar now. It was a reaction for years of repression. Nowadays there's internet and all that stuff that make sexy comedies to look tame.
Yeah, but the lack of these "raunchy sex comedies" is really sorely missed. If your point was really valid then rap videos wouldn't feature butt-ass naked strippers glazing each other in pussy juice, sweat and chocolate syrup every song.
All it would take is one super low-budget dude with a bunch of hot smutty booty-bunnies to self-produce a few shitty Skinemax-style smut flicks and make millions distributing independently and kickstart the entire genre back to life...

but alas, that's the type of risk-taking and entrepreneurialism that doesn't exist anymore in media.

Hey Mexican here so,

>Can someone explain why they have so much fan service and how I can get a hold of them in America?

We had a comics golden age back in the 60's, the only thing that remained were the dirty books genre wich regardlss of title we call every single one "El Libro Vaquero" or "Cowboy's Book".

This lasted trough the 90's, and to be honest it's a dying breed. Those publication still exist but the covers are not as raunchy as they were and the content IS NOT pornographic, in the new ones at least, and the art is pretty generic too. I'll see If I can find some in a 7-11 and scan it for you guys.

This stuff is hard to find here in Mexico, so no idea how you will look for this over there.

>>93979904

>They can't ALL be porn can they?

Again, they were never (or at least regularly) explicit hard core porn, I cant remember a single one were they showed a penis. ANd nowadays these dont exist anymore, everythign you're looking at is from the 80s-90s
>>
>>93988534
>This stuff is hard to find here in Mexico, so no idea how you will look for this over there.

I meant the old ones.

Again to reiterate cuz I feel this is not getting trough, these books are old as shit.

He was pretty much just Mexican Condorito.

The only reason you can't find his comics anymore is because the owner of the editorial that published the comics wasted its money to launch an acting/singing career.

ironically, this comic was pro-black and talked about issues of self-acceptance and black pride
but he was drawn in the 40s so...
>>
>>93988804
It did? What I remember from reading some of them as a kid was basically a bunch of White (?) kids hanging out with him because he's funny, most of the time just because he was black, and even then at first some kids didn't like him.

Aside from that I remember some domestic abuse and other soap opera drama that very often was pretty heavy from being on a kids comic.

Yes, there's entire issues when Memin tries to become white and his mom tells him he should be proud of being black.
The domestic abuse seemed common from that time, considering what my mom has told me about her times in school during the 50s

OP, nor anyone in this thread but your stupid ass was specifically talking about them. and every non-mexican here has mostly likely never even heard of Vaquero comics
>>
>>93985576
>>93985593

Yeah things like this is what compromises most of the books. Again, there is a difference from a "Libro Vaquero" to just straight up porn comics.

We had both, but Libro Vaquero since it's not actually porn it could be shown in news stand without having to cover them and generally it's publication numbers were higher since they were done by bigger publishers. Straigh up porn comics were made by specialized branches of editorials and were much cheaper and scarce.
>>
>>93989524
>El Libro Vaquero
>those aren't the only mexican adult comics

That is what we coloquialy called this type of comics. I dont know where you from mijo, te falta barrio.

This was in the 80's and 90's when those publications were at its highest and there were porn books and cheesecake, and if you called them "Libro Vaquero" you knew exactly what you were refering to.

>>93989524

Dude I can clearly tell by the covers which ones are cheeseckae and which ones are porn, I know that if youre not mexican or you're really young there's not a difference but there really was.
>>
>>93989205
Are you a white American or a brown Chicano American?

I'm pretty sure the fact that most of the characters in these comics have black hair is because the average Spaniard has black hair, and for most of Mexico's history the Mexicans who would have actually been drawing comics would have been from the more Spanish-looking half of the population.
>>
>>93989722

If they could release this many volumes of this shit then not only were these cheesecake artists good at drawing butts and tits they were good draftsmen in general. There's thousands of them, they are old as fuck and some of them are still being produced. LIke a time portal to 1990

They aren't as good as the covers make them seem - compare interiors with C rate internet porn artists, b rate at best. It's firmly rooted in machismo stereotypes - gruff men, bombshell women, vanilla porn everywhere. you ain't gonna find a mexican phil foglio here.

Probably most of them are self taught with very low income per book, so it's probably better for them if drawn shocking covers and mediocre inner material, I think the idea is quantity over quality.
>>
>>94004643
Cover artists are really good but there are only a handful of them. For interiors they just use a house style that any slightly competent artist can copy.

Also keep in mind that those comics are weekly so there's not a lot of time to polish the product

The rich kid, Ricardo (kek) was an arrogant jerk at the start and his mom and dad were about to divorce, and his uncle was a criminal that stole from his mom.
