It's had like four. They were all garbage. Any modern attempt will probably be garbage, because Mario is too much of a mascot, first and foremost (the same problem with Mickey Mouse and Superman - they're all boring characters).

This anon(>>93974044) pretty much hit the nail on the head; most vidya produced has the quality to become a cartoon. We had a ton in the '80's and are starting to see a bit of a resurgence with Sonic, Castlevania, and the upcoming Assassin's Creed. I believe Resident Evil is going this way, as well.

If it were up to me, I'd personally like to see an anime based on Nioh or Shinobi.

I'm gonna counter before anyone names them, but Souls games and Bloodborne would lose their charm and meta if they became a cartoon. They'd become generic fantasy cartoons that are grim.

Fallout or The Elder Scrolls might be cool settings for cartoons.

Though, they'd HAVE to be set at some 'inter-game' period and focus on some new main hero wandering around.

And in Fallout's case, they'd need to be careful about the protagonist ending up in canon wastelands, interesting as it could be.

I'd always thought a Fallout adaptation of canon stories should be done as people telling different versions of the same event similar to the Rashomon

One of my personal ideas for a Fallout adaptation is a knockoff of the Canterbury Tales where a group of travelers entertain themselves by telling different versions of the quests from the game's. One person would say that the Vault Dweller defeated the Master in a gun fight while another would say he talked him into blowing up his base. Each traveler has a different style of storytelling that reflects different ways of playing the game and gives the opportunity to see each outcome of a quest shown

Not exactly cartoons but I wish Studio Ghibli would make a Zelda movie.
It would be an all-new story but it still fits in the Zelda timeline while being accessible to newcomers.

I would also wish for a To the Moon movie by Makoto Shinkai.
