That theory is totally bogus. The most they could hope for is that she's his son, which doesn't seem to be the case because the lizards are a separate species from whatever Eclipsa's husband is. The tapestries are also fairly accurate in their depictions as far as we know, because Moon actually did technically ride Chauncey into "battle" and did blast off Toffee's finger. Although the picture is definitely dramatized. Also consider Star's tapestry had narwhals in the borders and showed her foot with the spike on it. There's no way that wouldn't be Eclipsa's actual husband when everything else the tapestries have depicted has been accurate.

I still think there's some connection between Toffee and Eclipsa though. Particularly in subplot with Toffee's finger. For some reason it was important for Toffee to be complete, and as so as he was killed. It's unlikely he cared about getting it back for the sake of his own benefit, he blew himself up and inhabited Ludo while living in magic goo so I doubt he cared much about his own limbs. I think he had some deal or relationship with Eclipsa, which would explain his odd name, where they planned for him to die and free her. But somehow, Moon aiming for his finger fucked it up so they needed to plan a new way for how to free Eclipsa.

People criticized the ending, but I'm pretty sure dying, again, was part of Toffee's plan.

The Toffee goo stuff, Star's transformation, and his death were all pretty metal. Still shocked they went there this early but they pulled that off about as well as they could either way.

Other good stuff: Moon turning out not to have been as badass as the tapestry implied, Ludo breaking down about the spellbook, Star and Ludo's conversation about Toffee in the wand, Moon attempting to cast the Darkest Spell again. In general I think they've recently really nailed making the episodes solid and the character interactions/dialogue strong-- despite the fact that the overarching plot suddenly seems to have gotten really iffy.

Feels like we're lacking some context about the Moon the Undaunted episode-- from everything related to Moon's mother's death to what Moon went on to do about the monsters. Toffee's motivation wasn't presented well at all let alone how he knows the stuff he knows (granted that could come up later but since he seems pretty definitively dead they could've tried for some of that when he was alive).

All that stuff can be assumed, but a little more of it and a little less implication could've made this stronger.

Also several episodes in the movie seemed to raise interesting questions or present certain implications that never were followed up on and indeed might never be. It's weird, the individual episodes were all really solid but the plot of the show itself could easily fall off a cliff right now.
