Tolkien was fluent in several languages and had a massive interest in Norse Mythology. He based almost every aspect of Middle Earth on a mish mash of Christian and Norse mythology and brought elements of it into the popular Mainstream. So yeah, Norse is way more geeky than Greek

I play D&D, so yes.
Besides, Norse mythology in those settings is basically its own thing.
It's like calling the Nordic pantheon in the Elder Scrolls "Norse mythology" because they share similarities.
