Unfortunately it's a pretty tired best-of better runs. It's not awful and it doesn't damage the brand or Frank, but it's mediocre as hell, on the whole not worth bothering with. The recent done-in-one issue was a big improvement over the previous stories, however, so maybe there is hope yet.

Frank is about as complex as any 80's action movie hero, ie not at all. He's a pulp archetype who was a literal ripoff of another pulp archetype(Mack Bolan) and managed to live past that.

Ennis did his own thing, but it's not representative of the character as a whole. it's a well-regarded Elseworlds that lives in its own bubble.

People like reading Frank because he reks guys with machineguns, not because he's an amazingly layered character.
